GENERAL PURPOSE
Videographically records training sessions, fire ground activities, emergency medical scenes, and
any other Sedona Fire District activities as directed by the Assistant Chief/PIO and/or Fire
Marshal.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the direct supervision of the Assistant Chief/PIO.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
None.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Responds, as needed, to fire and/or emergency medical scenes.
• Accurately videotapes and edits fire and/or emergency medical scenes, including but not
  limited to the following: responding equipment, responding personnel, involved citizens,
  injured victims, witnesses and spectators, deceased persons, structures, and property involved.
• Accurately videotapes and edits fire and/or emergency medical scenes for investigative
  purposes, including but not limited to the following: scene overviews, close-ups including
  macro-videography, other evidence photography including measuring scales, rulers, gray
  scales, and color patches.
• Videotapes SFD members for publication and display purposes.
• Records, creates, and/or edits and produces audio for videotapes.
• Maintains video and audio equipment.
• Attends seminars, conferences, and classes to keep abreast of current trends in the field.
• Maintains positive working relationship with SFD members.

PERIPHERAL DUTIES
• Operates SFD vehicles to conduct district business.
• Provides videographic investigative assistance to the Yavapai Fire Investigation Task Force, as
  requested.
• Provides videographic assistance to other local fire and law enforcement agencies, as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
• High school diploma or GED
• Four years of professional and/or amateur videographic experience including the use of video
  cameras, audio taping, and editing.
• Any combination of equivalent education or experience.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Thorough knowledge of:
    - audio and videographic techniques.
• Working knowledge of:
    - editing techniques.
• Skill in operation of the tools/equipment listed.
• Ability to:
    - edit video and audio tape.
    - operate a video production facility.
    - accurately videotape fire and/or emergency medical scenes, and training exercises.
    - follow detailed instructions.
    - set priorities and follow projects through to completion.
    - communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
    - handle all physical requirements of the assignment.
    - use listed tools and equipment, as well as do routine maintenance for same.
    - establish and maintain effective working relationships with SFD members, other agencies,
         and the public.
    - meet Special Requirements, as listed.


DESIRABLE KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Experience in evidence videography.
• Experience in public safety videography.
• Experience in arson investigation or photography.
• Experience in photography.
• Member of the Arizona Chapter, International Association of Arson Investigators.
• Experience working with the public.
• Experience working with volunteers in fire, EMS, or dual service.
• Multilingual

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
• Must attend recruit class segments, as directed by the Assistant Chief/PIO.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
• No felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years.
• Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of appointment, a valid Arizona state driver's license.
• Must meet physical demands, as listed.
• Must meet insurability requirements of district insurance carrier.


SELECTION GUIDELINES
May include any or all of the following: formal application; review of education and experience;
written examination; oral board; background/driver's license check; offer of appointment; post-
offer physical examination including drug screen.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED
Personal computer, attached to a computer network; high quality video cameras; selection of
lenses; video lighting equipment; monitors; A/B roll editing equipment; mix effects equipment;
audio editing equipment; turn out gear, boots, helmet, coveralls, and cap.

The member must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and occasionally lift and/or
move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance,
color, and peripheral; depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

Work is performed primarily in office, vehicles, and outdoor settings, in all weather conditions,
including temperature extremes, during day and night. Work is often performed in emergency
and stressful situations. The individual is exposed to sirens and hazards associated with fighting
fires and rendering emergency medical assistance. The member occasionally works near moving,
mechanical parts and in high, precarious places, and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or
humid conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, radiation, risk of
electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office
and video editing settings, and loud at emergency scenes.
