Corridors of the Future
 I-70 one of 6 corridors selected & funded
 $5 million discretionary grant from FHWA
 Limits: Kansas City, Missouri to Ohio/West
    Virginia Border (800 miles)
 $2 million of the $5 million was used to fund
    MoDOT’s SEIS
 $3 million remaining to study the complete I-70
    multi-state corridor

MoDOT I-70 SEIS
 Project Limits: East of Kansas City,
Missouri to West of St. Louis
 Origin/Destination Study in Kansas City
 Route Feasibility Study in St. Louis to be
  followed by an Origin/Destination Study
 Conclusions of the SEIS: FHWA/MoDOT
have approved Truck Only Lanes as the
  Preferred Alternative for I-70.

Goals of the St. Louis I-70 Truck
          Corridor Study
 St. Louis Feasibility Study to provide:

• Connectivity Evaluation
• Support for MoDOT’s I-70 SEIS
• Begin to address issues associated with
Truck-Only Lanes crossing the St. Louis
  Metropolitan area.

Refining Options
 3 Reasonable Corridors (I-70, I-270, & 370)
 Limited adverse travel through metro area
 Limited through truck traffic in downtown St.
Louis and avoids Poplar Street Bridge
   Highest truck percentages
 Least right of way constraints
 Best connectivity to freight generating facilities
and intermodal facilities in metro area
 Ability to accommodate Long Combination
    Vehicles (LCV)
