Interdisciplinary Strategic Issues in e Science and Cyber Infrastructure

Interdisciplinary Strategic Issues in e-Science and Cyber-Infrastructure Caltech, June 12 – 14, 2007 Workshop Agenda The meeting will consist of 8 sessions, each 1.5 hours long and focused on a particular set of topics as listed below. Each session will have a designated moderator, who, along with a couple of other participants (“co-provocateurs”) will set the stage for a discussion with short presentations, lasting no more than 30 minutes total, followed by at least 1 hour of open discussion involving all participants. The meeting is intended to be interaction-heavy and powerpoint-light. Informal discussions will continue during coffee breaks and meals. The goal is to synthesize a common vision, rather than spend time in standard talks. The focus will be on the future of the field, and the emergence of new ways of doing scientific research. All sessions will be in the Millikan Board Room, bldg. 32 on Caltech maps Tuesday, June 12: 18:00 – 20:00 Opening reception at the Avery House Library (bldg. 99 on Caltech maps) Wednesday, June 13: 8:30 – 9:00 9:00 – 10:30 Coffee Session 1: Introducing the major workshop themes, goals and participants.
