SECTION 2 - KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Delivers direct and comprehensive nursing care and individual case management to a specific group of consumers
Provides support, direction, orientation and education to staff and consumers. Acts as a role model in the provision of
holistic care to consumers. Reporting lines will vary from service to service.
SECTION 3- STATEMENT OF DUTIES
TITLE CLASSIFICATION
CLINICAL NURSE (MENTAL HEALTH) LEVEL 2 ANF
BRIEF SUMMARY OF DUTIES TO BE PERFORMED
Provides individual case management to a specific group of consumers in a particular area of nursing practice and
accepts accountability for own standards of nursing care.
Coordinates the nursing care and management of a specific area on a day to day basis.
Acts as an advocate for consumers and families and collaborates with them and members of the health care team to
achieve health goals.
Functions in accordance with relevant policies and adheres to governing legislation including the WA Mental Health Act
1996.
Documentation is in accordance to policy and demonstrates confidentiality in dealings with consumers and staff.
Accepts responsibility for mandatory data collection including National Outcome and Casemix Collection.
Participates in the design and evaluation of consumer focused quality assurance/accreditation processes.
Provides clinical supervision of registered and enrolled nurses where applicable and acts as a role model while
accepting responsibility for own actions.
Maintains safe working environment.
Uses resources appropriately and cost effectively.
Maintains own knowledge and skills and participates in ongoing professional development.
Participates in ongoing performance review/ development.
Report all incidents required in the mandatory reporting of sentinel adverse events.
OTHER DUTIES

TITLE CLASSIFICATION
CLINICAL NURSE (MENTAL HEALTH) LEVEL 2 ANF
ESSENTIAL
1. Eligible to be registered by the Nurses Board of Western Australia as a Registered Nurse Division 1
- Mental Health or Comprehensive.
2. Demonstrated experience in acute mental health nursing.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of mental disorders and their effects on individuals, families, carers and
the community.
4. Demonstrated ability to work as an effective member in a multi-disciplinary team.
5. Demonstrated ability to coordinate nursing care and manage a specific area.
6. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively (both written and verbal).
