JOB DESCRIPTION
TITLE: Finance Bookkeeper
DEPARTMENT: Administration
THIS POSITION REPORTS TO AND IS SUPERVISED BY:
TITLE: Township Manager
AUTHORITY TO: Evaluate, comment
AUTHORITY METHOD: Verbal, written
THIS POSITION HAS AUTHORITY OVER AND SUPERVISES:
TITLE: None
JOB IS: Full-time
HOURS: 40 hours per week
WORK BREAK: 30 minute lunch break
WORK SCHEDULE: 8:30am-4:30pm; Monday-Friday
SPECIAL SCHEDULE: Available, as necessary for meetings
PURPOSE OF THE POSTION:
The Finance Bookkeeper is involved in various data entry functions of the municipality including
payroll, utility billing developer invoicing as well as assist the Township Manager in budget preparations.
MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS TO HOLD THIS POSITION
1. Required Education/Experience/Training
High School Diplomas or GED
Two years of experience in government accounting/finance
2. Required Knowledge
Knowledge of the principles and practices of local government finances; the principles
and practices of fund accounting and auditing
Knowledge of budget development; computerized financial systems and applied data
processing
Excellent written and oral communication skills
3. Required Ability to Use or Operate the Following:
Standard office equipment, including but not limited to: computer, word processing
software and financial software.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS TO PERFORM THE POSITION:
Essential Abilities To:
Assist with reconcile bank statements
Prepare memos and documents as assigned by the Township Manager
Account payable – entering data in fund accounting system. Printing checks, securing
signatures and processing checks for mailing.
Accounts receivable – billing developers for fees incurred from professionals and all
other monthly billing
Assist with inputting data from department heads for Township’s yearly budget
Assist with maintaining the financial filing system including records and operations for
multiple government funds and accounts
Assist with maintaining all employee vacation, sick and compensatory time
Make presentations to the Board of Supervisors, as required
Accurately complete administrative forms and reports in a timely fashion
Exercise sound judgment in evaluating situations and in making decisions
Maintain confidentiality of information
Establish and maintain effective working relationship with the public, peers and
supervisors
Must be detailed oriented and thorough in work habits
Understand and comply with personnel policies and procedures
Answer telephone calls, greet the public and fax documents as needed
Understand and comply with safety policies and procedures
Carry out job functions with or without supervision
Carry out job functions without posing a direct threat to the health or safety to self or
others
Request assistance when appropriate
Other duties and functions that are assigned by the Township Manager
