When do you qualify for a home loan?
A home loan may be granted to you if you meet the following criteria:

 •     You must be permanently employed and have a satisfactory credit record
 •     To ensure that your home loan does not become a financial burden on you, your monthly
       installment should not exceed 30% of your gross monthly income. The salary of your
       spouse will be taken into account, provided that your spouse is permanently employed.
 •     If you qualify for a housing subsidy, you must provide documentary proof of such a sub-

How and when do I repay my home loan?
Bank Windhoek normally requires a deposit equal to between 10% and 20% of the purchase
price or value of the property. Depending on your personal circumstances, you may apply for a
home loan for up to 100% of the bank’s valuation of the property, subject to our specific crite-
ria. The maximum repayment period of a home loan is usually 20 years, but it can be extended
to 30 years. You can also choose to repay your loan over a shorter period, which will save you
