FACTORS IN ROLLOVER ACCIDENTS
SPEED / ENVIRONMENT / EQUIPMENT TOP HEAVY VEHICLES – LMTV/FMTV/FLA/AVENGER
SPEED KILLS. Adjust your speed to the conditions and environment. Slow down near civilians or
approaching traffic. DO NOT ASSUME the other driver will do the right thing. Following too close at
high speeds does not allow sufficient reaction time for follow on vehicles. Adjust following distance
based on speed. Allow the lead vehicle to complete the pass before initiating a pass. IS THE ROAD
AHEAD CLEAR???
ENVIRONMENT CONTAINS HAZARDS. Unseen hazards exist throughout the area of operation.
Numerous traffic inlets, slow moving traffic, animals, drivers in the wrong lanes, slowing or stopped
traffic. DRIVE DEFENSIVELY – SLOW DOWN!!!
IS YOUR EQUIPMENT MISSION CAPABLE / PMCS’D???Only licensed and trained drivers behind the
wheel. KNOW YOUR EQUIPMENT AND HOW IT WILL REACT TO AN EMERGENCY!!!
