POSITION/TITLE:                       NETWORK ENGINEER
DEPARTMENT:                           OPERATIONS
MANAGER:                              VICE PRESIDENT NETWORK ENGINEERING
LOCATION:                             DENVER, COLORADO

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Manage and maintain Internet Service Providers regional network, systems, telecommunications services and
customer installation and support issues.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
  Included in the area of responsibilities are defining the architecture, evaluating products and implementing new
  technology into the network
  Evaluate multiple vendor data products through documented test plans, select vendor, and develop engineering
  specifications and guidelines for these data products
  Work with Finance and Marketing to develop and enhance networking and security products and services
  through the product implementation process
  Establish and document standards, policies and procedures
  Provide technical support and training to Operations (NOC), Sales Engineering, and Account Management on
  all related technologies
  Interfacing with high profile customers during both the pre-sales and post sales installation processes
  Experience project managing and supporting large network projects
  Individual will be responsible for Network Security, VPN, and Firewalls
  Perform other job related duties as required

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Related Experience:
   4+ years experience as a Network Operations Analyst, Network Operations Field Engineer or a Network
   Operations Center Technician/Engineer
   In-depth knowledge of the seven layers within the OSI model and detailed familiarity with industry protocols.
   Extensive experience with IP Addressing to include subnetting
   Experience in troubleshooting router, switch and fault-tolerant redundant environments, configuration,
   troubleshooting and hardware maintenance
   Experience working with service providers testing and troubleshooting Dial-up, DSL, Metro Area Ethernet, FT1
   through OC12 circuits
   Systems and computer programming (Perl, C, Shell, XML) helpful

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
  Solid understanding of IP networking and two or more associated protocols including TCP/UDP, BGP, OSPF
  Candidate must have a working knowledge of DNS, SMTP and server technologies
  Solid understanding of WAN protocols – SONET, PPP, HDLC, ATM, Frame Relay, DSL
  Solid understanding of LAN protocols - VRRP, Spanning Tree, Ethernet, VLAN
  Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  Desire to grow and learn new technologies.
  Work effectively in a dynamic and changing environment
  Strong commitment to customer service
  Self-motivation and ability to work with minimum supervision
  Good decision making abilities a must
  Flexibility to Support 24 / 7 / 365 operations

Formal Training or Education:
BA/BS education preferred
