Joint Summary Statement for FY06 Negotiations Between the Board of Education and the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County
Negotiating teams for the Board of Education and the Teachers Association of Anne Arundel County reached a Tentative Agreement for FY06 on May 6, 2005. Highlights of the agreement are as follows: 1. COMPENSATION a. Four-percent cost of living adjustment or COLA across all lanes and steps effective July 1, 2005. b. Increase tuition reimbursement rates. c. Increase mileage reimbursement rates to the IRS rate as of July 1, 2005. d. Add and/or adjust extra-curricular stipends. e. Increase available workdays for Resource Teachers and Reading Teachers. f. Both parties agree to pursue a joint multi-year effort to create a competitive salary scale for Unit I employees that is at least in the mid range of the surrounding districts on every step and every column. Those surrounding districts include Montgomery, Calvert, Howard, Prince George's, Baltimore County, Baltimore City, Harford, and Queen Anne's. 2. HEALTH CARE: Current employer/employee ratios remain unchanged for FY06. 3. INCENTIVE PAY a. Continue current program and "grandfather" the schools identified in FY05. Continue stipend amounts at $1,500. b. Employees assigned to Title I schools shall be paid a stipend of $1,500. An additional stipend of $1,500 shall be paid if the school achieves AYP. 4. WORKLOAD: Establish a high level Labor Management Committee to examine and resolve workload issues and other operational concerns which impact teachers’ ability to effectively deliver instruction. 5. PAYROLL DEDUCTIONS: Two additional voluntary payroll deductions shall be made available to TAAAC members for other voluntary benefits offered by TAAAC. 6. MODIFIED AGENCY SHOP: Both parties agree that Modified Agency Shop will be discussed during negotiations for the FY07 agreement.
