Soft Rollout Only Introduction to Knight/Hotspot HSFR Project Who is Knight Securities? Knight Securities transacts retail FOREX on it’s 100% owned subsidiary known as Hotspot FX. Until today, most of Hotspot’s retail base has consisted of clients that have traded in minimum lot sizes of 100,000 units. It’s core business is conducted through it’s institutional division that regularly trades in excess of billions of dollars on an average day. Their volume is directly offset as an ECN or direct pass-through with their liquidity providers which are for the most part commercial banks. Their business model (ECN) isn’t a traditional broker/dealer in that their pricing structure is normally dependent upon commissions and fees. Knight/Hotspot has offered to work through MVIB, LLC to provide “traditional” retail, pricing to the FreedomRocks group. This will be a multi-level rollout as there is a tremendous amount of engineering that needs to be finalized before we have a “live” launch. Soft Rollout Only Introduction to Knight/Hotspot HSFR Project Who is Knight Securities? Today, MVIB is announcing the first phase of this ongoing project, demo accounts. There will only be an initial rollout of 100 accounts through the leaders in FreedomRocks. We are doing this for 2 major reasons: 1.Knight/Hotspot’s ECN model is the closest liquidity to direct bank dealing that the FreedomRocks group has seen so far. This means that there is a tremendous amount of programming that is being beta tested to make sure that you can trade in 1,000 lot sizes at 400:1 with all correct calculations being made on the back end of the pricing engines. 2.This is ongoing project. FreedomRocks has never had the opportunity to work with an ECN provider such as Hotspot FX in the past. Hotspot has a tremendous amount of work to finish from their end before we both feel comfortable with a “live” rollout. This will give both groups time to make sure that all kinks are worked out. MVIB feels that this is the business model of the future now that more and more commercial banks are getting involved in the retail FX space. Since 1999, banks have been developing proprietary systems for their customers to trade foreign exchange and access research material over the internet. To trade with multiple banks online, customers therefore need to use a variety of authentication methods, websites and price request methods. Multi-bank platforms have evolved to allow customers to use a single website to request prices simultaneously from multiple banks and view research material online. Multibank platforms (also known as ECNs or electronic communication networks) offer significant advantages to customers, but fewer advantages to banks, and therefore active participation by banks in multi-bank platforms is driven largely by customer demand. However, for the banks it remains preferable for their customers to trade through bank proprietary systems as the banks avoid paying brokerage and customers are encouraged to focus only on the particular bank's prices. There are five main FX ECNs: FXall - founded by Bank of America, Credit Suisse First Boston, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley Dean Witter and UBS Currenex - independent and venture backed by major market participants, e.g. Barclays Capital and Royal Dutch/Shell FX Connect - owned by State Street Bank 360T - independent and venture backed by financial and major private investors Hotspot FXi - independent privately held venture capital-backed company Soft Rollout Only Introduction to Knight/Hotspot HSFR Project What is an ECN model? Trading channel – customers trading via e-commerce networks (ECNs) such as FXall and Currenex are usually seeking prices from multiple banks simultaneously and it is important to give a price as quickly as possible via these channels. Customer – some banks configure their best customers to get an automatic price up to a higher amount threshold because the bank can provide a faster price automatically than it can manually and they trust the customer not to abuse it. When a price is provided automatically from a bank’s pricing engine, it will have a time-to-live (in seconds), beyond which the customer may not hit the price. Some banks offer streaming prices, whereby the price is automatically updated with a new price before the previous price expires. Most banks’ e-commerce systems also impose a time-to-live on manual prices, but may also allow trading or sales to update a manual price. It will incorporate multiple, scaling techniques similar to the FR strategy. FR2 Overlay Components of the FR2 Overlay The FR2 model is a proprietary algorithm built around 3 basic components that monitors short termed volatility, positions or “overlays” the FreedomRocks strategy to take advantage of these short termed anomalies. Component #1: Volatility Breakout • Measures short termed volatility swings on an intraday basis. Expands and shortens times to hold positions based upon market movements or price action. FR2 Overlay Components of the FR2 Overlay Component #2: Potential Range Matrix • Generates entry/exit points off statistical analysis of risk reversal patterns. Usually trades for a period of 48 hours. • Overlaps the Volatility Breakout signals to generate a short termed, statistically driven, pricing pattern/range that will verify entry/exit points of the underlying FreedomRocks portfolio. FR2 Overlay Components of the FR2 Overlay Component #3: Timing Signal(s) • Analyzes matrices built by Volatility Breakouts and Range Pattern statistics to generate entry/exit signals. Profitable positions are held for an average of 3-5 days as defined by the system’s analysis. • All of the 3 components are given equal weighting when generating the final buy/sell signals. There is some room for potential discretionary interaction when pricing in an extreme volatility mode or “event driven” movement that requires human overrides. FR2 Hedge Overlay How do I participate? • This will be separate product facilitated by GFT and run on a 24 hour basis while the FX markets are open. • The FR2 program will be offered through MVIB, LLC and run by a licensed Commodity Trading Advisor(s) with over 25 years experience in the markets. • It will be a managed account with full discretion given to the trading advisor/advisors on a 24 hour 6 day basis. This isn’t a self-traded account at this time. • Deposits and withdrawals will be of a 1 month duration. • Deposit minimums are expected to be around $1,000. FR2 Hedge Overlay Who are the Managers? Mr. Paul Loffredo- Registered C.T.A.-ForexFunds, LLC Mr. Loffredo has thirty years experience managing and advising for global trading businesses in foreign exchange, treasury products, precious metals and investment management. Mr. Loffredo is co-founder and managing member of Cape Capital Management, LLC which has successfully managed money for institutional clients in foreign exchange since 2000 using discretionary and systematic trading strategies.
