Title I would like to congratulate their students on a job well done during the first part of ISTEP. All
students worked hard and were very cooperative. Please be reminded that the second part of ISTEP will
be given starting the week of April 26. Encouraging students to get plenty of rest the night before testing
has proven to be an effective testing strategy. We would also like to remind parents that tutoring is
available every night until 4:20 for all Title I students.

In Miss Cibrario’s class, her 6th grade students have been working on finding the area, volume, surface
area, and perimeter of figures. They have started working on measurement and continue to prepare for
ISTEP. Her 7th grade students have been busy finding percentages and are looking forward to continuing
with geometry. They will also continue preparing for the second round of ISTEP. Miss Cibrario would like
to welcome Mr. Breiding and Ms. Wilson to her classroom for the second semester. They are both Early
Field Experience students from ISU and will be continuing until spring break.

Miss Gardner has been busy teaching students skills needed in persuasive writing. She has been
concentrating on skills used in advertisements and has been using engaging activities with all
classes. Along with persuasive writing, students continue to write daily in their journals and will
be starting research projects after spring break.

Mrs. Bogard has been working with students on reading comprehension skills in her classroom.
She is also concentrating on writing skill and has been busy conferencing with her students on
essays each week. Students are continuing with their Daily Oral Language and journals daily in
her classroom.

Mrs. Watkins has been seen in many classrooms this semester teaching writing skills needed for
testing and daily life. She has provided each class with engaging assignments and follow up
activities.

Mrs. Dougherty has finished reading Bud, Not Buddy with her classes and has started research
projects over The Great Depression. These projects will continue until spring break. Students
will be required to complete a bibliography, outline, index cards, and a 2-4 page paper that will
all be due on Thursday, April 1.

Title I would like to thank Mrs. Long for filling in for Mr. Hamersley. We will be welcoming
Mr. Hamersley back on Monday, March 22.
