1. Introduction to findRex.com
We are an Internet search engine, we offer a high quality alternative appoarch to existing
search engine technologies. Service oriented with direct relationship with the clients, our
clients are anyone or groups that submit to the findRex.com database.

We personally look at each and every site.

We do this to ensure that only quality sites are entered into findRex.com and to keep out
abusive and pornographic content and to ensure that legitmate websites rank well. In previous
years, the odd "undesireable" site slipped in, we are working hard to remove any such remaining

Our job is to get people to your door. Your listing doesn't need to say everything, sometimes
when you try to do that you overload people and end up not getting them to your door at all!
Make your website listings with the various online search engines work. Modern search engines
are very savvy and repetitive phrases and the like only backfire. Remember: your listing is not
your website, your listing's job is to get people to your website. Let your listing do its job and
let your website do its job.

You spend time and money on your website and you expect it to help your sales and be worth
the effort, but if you can't get those ever-sought after good rank listings your website cannot
provide you with the return on investment.

If you are a business: law firm, sailboat charters, manufacturing, hotel, dentist, engineering etc
chances are some of your business (...and more and more) is finding you on the Internet. Get
registered, it is $ 9.99 USD and brings tremendous benefit to your organization (see next section
2: Get Registered in findRex.com).

Creating a great listing is not easy - most submissions are "over done". By overdoing the
description and overloading the Internet viewer, you lose them and they don't even look at your
website – you lose the opportunity to advertise and potentially sell, please see section 3: Your
Listing in findRex.com.

2. Get Registered in findRex.com
We highly recommend that you register your website for $ 9.99 USD, this is a very small fee and
is collected for two reasons 1) marginal contribution to revenue, 2) lets us know who is serious.
Typically, the legimate businesses readily registers whereas the borderline websites do not. We
look to keep the better more poplular sites near the top of our lists. Registered listings always
stay in our database, non-registered sites are sometimes dropped to make room for registered
sites – so get registered!

To register, visit the following webpage and follow the simple instructions:

Once your listing is registered in the system, you may change your listing anytime, without re-
submitting. Usually the change takes place within a few days, and sometimes automatically (we
are working hard towards this as a standard).

Extremely Important !
Once listed, if you are not registered you cannot change your listing. On subsequent
submissions, the system simply discards the submission as "already present in system". This is
because of the high volume of automated re-submssions that we receive. It is not uncommon to
receive the same URL ten times within a single month. We receive thousands every day – all of
which need to be processed. So we process the registered submissions first and try as best we
can to get to the others, sometimes it takes months to get to the free submissions, but the
registed sites are done immediately and appear on the Internet ususally withing 24 hours of

If you are reasonably satisfied with your current listing, your should still register it to make sure
that you keep it, registering will only make it better. If you are not registered, you may easily
lose an otherwise good ranking, particularly to your competitors that are registered.

We do alter submissions to improve them, primarly this is done to remove excessive text that
doesn't contribute to the listing, especially in terms of the extra storage, memory, and
bandwidth consumed. Only registered submissions are listed as unchanged and only when
specifically requested.

For smaller companies who cannot afford "big budget" advertising campaigns, findRex.com is an

ideal choice. We give preference ranking to those that submit and even better ranking to those
that register.

When a company receives good traffic from findRex.com we hope they will register – it is good

If you are not satisfied with the results of your submission as a "free submission", consider

registered sites. We'll even work with you to do it. Send us an e-mail with any special

3. Your Listing in findRex.com

3.1 Your Submission and Keywords

Providing a good submission is critical to your listing. Much more is involved than just a sentence
or two. In fact, your submission should not be a sentence at all, but rather information
constructed together into a record listing in such a way as to help the very sophisticated
findRex.com search engine distinguish the best listings for a search request. Remember that
findRex.com sorts through millions of records to do this and that is no easy feat.

A submission consists of four critical parts: 1) URL 2) constructed list of keywords and phrases
and appropriate tagging (bracing), 3) Geographical Location/Region 4) A valid and regularly
checked e-mail.

Amongst the keywods should be included one or more catagories. Please see any of the
findRex.com pages down the left side for a list of the most recent catagories. Words are
typically seperated by commas, some specific words in phrases may be separated by spaces, but
mostly words should be separated by commas. The catagory words should be embraced with
brace symbols "{" "}".

List Better Webpage
For more detailed information on the use of commas and spaces please visit:

(1) www.mariasfruitbasket.com fresh,fruit,beautifully,wrapped,fishing_basket
(2) www.MariasFruitBasket.com beautifully_wrapped,{gift}

The second line is the better of the two. The list of keywords should include a simple "{gift}", to
let the findRex.com search engine know that this is a primary key word and a catagory. A
submission may have up to three primary keywords – any more and your submission may
backfire! Not listing a primary keyword results in a poor ranking. findRex.com looks to clarify.
For example, lets consider "train", the search could be looking for trains for travel or model
trains for hobby; add either {travel} or {hobby} as needed. Too many keywords or catagories
loses focus.

Notice the capitalization, this is very important and helps findRex.com to ensure that it is

Rank Better Page 7 of 21 @findRex.com
correctly assessing words within character strings. This is covered further in the List Better

Notice we dropped the word "fresh". Although not critical, "fresh" really doesn't add a whole lot,
this is where common sense should be used and is futher discussed in the sub section on "things
not to do". The website is selling gift baskets not fresh fruit, and realistically when the gift
basket is received, perhaps through the mail, the fruit probably won't be fresh anyways. But
more importantly, people searching on gift baskets are not typing "fresh fruit gift basket". The
point is to give a gift, not give fruit to eat. So: focus on describing the core product – this helps!

We also dropped the word "fruit" from the description, this is because it is already present in
the URL. As far as the "search engine" is concerned the repeated word adds no extra value. You
should aim to keep your desciption as short as possible, this makes it easier to read. The more
quickly a viewer can read it, the more likely they will read it and visit it.

With each word in your description, ask yourself, what does this word really add – is it important
enough to be there in my precious first 10-20 words that people will see. Much of the
descriptions people submit are secondary support to the first two words and are "things that go
without saying" - will not ever be searched on directly, and add no real value to the listing.
Much of this "secondary support" text are things that are better left to the website itself than
the listing. Avoid the unecessary secondary support text because it detracts from your primary
desciption and point.

If you don't know the best keywords and catagories, let a professional do it. It makes all the
difference. At findRex.com we offer this service as part of registration, ie get registered!

We once had a photographer submit his website, and he described what he took pictures of but
didn't have the word "photography" or "photographer" or even "photo" in the description, we at
findRex.com didn't know what the website was about until we actually visited it. Let us do the
work for you, we don't miss the little things and we double check our work.

Another submission for handbags and purses had a reasonably good description. However, the
"handbags" and "purses" keywords fall under fashion. So by adding this one word, "fashion", the
listing jumped from position 234 to 9. This is because with the additional word, the
findRex.com search engine was able to better deteremine the "clarity" of the listing.

Another submission called "microtex.xxx" simply described "supplier and manufacturing". This
listing will never get clicked on because we don't know what they manufacture and nor will the
"web surfer". Perhaps the submitter did not know "english", we don't all speak english – we

Rank Better Page 8 of 21 @findRex.com
understand. That is yet another good reason to get registered, we do speak english, we'll review
your website and make sure it does well.

Good Examples:
Descriptions of websites about "scholarships", should include the primary keyword of
"education", because that is one of the primary groups that "scholarship" falls into.

Example :

Word Catagory/Group
resume employ
jobs employ
college education

Example: pick a web page search:

...and look at just how many there are. How does a web surfer decide which one to click on. Ask
yourself, what makes yours standout. 1) How close to the top are you, 2) is the listing clean
without garbage, 3) does the name standout, 4) keywords are present and make sense. You need
every advantage you can get. Most of the listings on the above furniture page will never be
clicked, they simply have nothing about their listing that makes them standout. Predominately,
the highest ranked listings will get the click-thrus, and those are all the registered listings.

Other methods of getting more traffic to your website include advertising with banners and text
links. findRex.com sells both throughout the system, please see our Media Kit at:

Geographical Location/Region:
This is so important. Help us help you! We cannot stress enough just how important this is!

Because of how our Java applet technology works, it is incredibly easy to type a location like
Toronto Canada and get more specifc results, much better than those of other search engines
such as Google. But findRex.com has to know the geographcial reference if there is one. That is
why this is so important.

Rank Better Page 9 of 21 @findRex.com

When an Internet user does a search on "Blue Whale" they want informative websites about the
subject matter. It is not "as important", the geographical origin of the website, whether it be
California, USA or Sussex, UK. But on the other hand if they search on "bike rentals", they don't
just want a list of bike rental websites – they want to know about bike rentals in the specifc
area where that are going to rent the bikes. There may be 1000 great bike rental websites on
the Internet, but once the user adds a geographical location that list quickly narrows down to
only a few.

So include your location. If you are a world-wide international company then enter "Worldwide"
for location. A relatively high volume of submissions do not include locations, they should!
findRex.com is the only search engine to specifically collect information about geographical
location, thus often provinding superior results.

3.2 Things Not To Do...

Do not overdo your description. For our example gift basket site, the submission included
",fishing,", which we think probably means "gift basket for fising"? Don't add this to the
description for the search engine. Although search engines are smart, they still make mistakes
and might add this website to the fishing group; even though it isn't really about fishing. Later
when the search engine is reviewing sites it discovers that really the site isn't about fishing and
drops it all together. Describe your product at your website not in your submission/listing
description which is just a very short summary.

We often receive submissions with descriptions that are over 1000 characters in length. The
description is so long we really don't know what the site does, and it simply gets dropped. The
concept of getting "phrases and words" in search engines is outdated does not work. The search
engines specifically look for techniques that attempt to do this. Work on the description as a
whole, short and sweet (better yet – get registed).

The following are examples of phrases very frequently submitted as part of descriptions. These
phrases add no real value to the listing, in some cases they take away from the listing's clarity or
is information that "goes without saying" and is expected to be found at the website anyways.

www.dog-petcare.com Petcare,dogs,information_about_dogs,cats

In the above description, given the URL, we already know that the website has "information"
about dogs and is "about " dogs. The text "information_about_dogs" adds no real value to the
listing and will be automatically dropped by findRex.com.

www.woodland-bb.com bed_and_breakfast,reservations,details,[Canton,Ohio]

We realize that "reservations" are very important, but we already know that. We expect to visit
the website, get the phone number or email, ask questions, and then maybe we will make
reservations. The word "reservations" adds no real value to the listing. The same applies to
"details"; we expect to find the details when we visit the website and/or make further contact.
Bed and breakfast is what is important; reservations goes without saying.

www.bali-exotic-furniture.com furniture_from_Bali,descriptions,contact

Again in this example, the word "descriptions" doesn't really add any value, of course we expect

Rank Better Page 11 of 21 @findRex.com
to see pictures and descriptions of their products if we visit the website. The word contact and
often "contact information" is extremely overused. We expect to find that contact information
at the website, that is the entire point; your website should have that. Use the description to
better purpose, for example, mention the kinds of furniture, for example:
"teak, wicker, antique", these words add real value.

www.superior-hvac.com specialists_in_hvac

Well, we hope that they are specialists and we are also expecting them to be given their name.
In this case the word "specialists" adds no value, and futher, everybody on the Internet claims to
be a specialist, most submissions include this word; and it is automatically dropped.

A list of similarly related examples*:
* There are always exceptions, this is a guideline.

Do not use all caps, it looks bad and you want your listing to look good.

Do not omit an e-mail or provide a silly, or nonexisting one. It tells the search engine, like
findRex.com, that you are not serious, and they will not allow you into their database. Also, if
possible, avoid using web-based e-mail such as "hotmail" and "yahoo"; ideally use a normal e-
mail account associated with the website that you are submitting (and also check it regularly –
otherwise you may miss a confirmation). If you are concerned about spam and do not trust the
search engine that you are submitting to – then do not submit.

Do not submit over-and-over, it doesn't help, in fact it does more harm than good. Once a
search engine has your URL, they don't forget it. Computers do not forget. Repetitive

Rank Better Page 12 of 21 @findRex.com
submissions may get your URL on a "reject" list. Avoid submission software and companies that
engage in that practice. Register and control your listing.

We do not Advertise our Competitors

Many of these are "get rich quick schemes", or are borderline legal (if at all). However, those
that register and are not engaged in dishonest activity "as far as we can see" are listed.

In some cases, websites that must register have been pre-emptively permitted into
findRex.com. Those websites are then e-mailed a notice to register within 30 days if they want
to stay in findRex.com, otherwise they are removed. Should they register, they would then
receive the same SEO benefits and double checking by our staff as normal. This means that we
would then specifically review their site to ensure that it does well. The e-mail will provide a
link for payment.

Websites that abuse this opportunity by subsequently radically changing their content to an
explicit pornographic website or that of an illegal business will be removed without refund.
