With similar career paths, brummie accents and ambitions, let alone the same name, Nick Jones and Nick Bate have come a long way since they met in the late 1990s, working together before breaking out of the corporate world to set up their own e-learning recruitment and consultancy business, Blue Eskimo. While at Ctec, they were headhunted by QA to develop an e-commerce capability for the company. The idea was to encourage corporate companies buying instructor led training to also buy and blend large scale e-learning, usually through library agreements. Blue Eskimo has been profitable since set up and last year grew business revenue 30% on the previous year, but neither Jones nor Bate is ready to sell up, believing there is still great scope in the business to build, grow and add more people.
