Day 01 ADELAIDE – HANOI

Arrive in Hanoi, you will be welcomed by our English-speaking guide and transferred to
your hotel. Overnight hotel in Hanoi.
Day 02 Full day city tour (B,L,D)
A full day city tour of Vietnam’s capital. Hanoi is a unique city with tree-lined
boulevards, French colonial architecture, peaceful lakes and oriental temples. The city
tour includes such sights as Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum, the One Pillar Pagoda, the Fine
Arts Museum and the Temple of Literature. After a buffet lunch at Brother’s Café,
continue to the Museum of Ethnology and end the afternoon with a visit to the Lake of
the Restored Sword and the Old Quarter. In the evening, enjoy a traditional
Vietnamese water puppet show. Dinner is at the Season Restaurant. Overnight in
Day 3: Hanoi – Halong Bay – Emeraude Cruise (B,L,D)
Leave Hanoi and go for a road trip to Halong Bay. Enjoy the journey through the rich
farmlands of the Red River Delta and the scenery of rice fields, water buffalo and
everyday Vietnamese village life. Arrive in Halong Bay between 11:30 and 12:00 and
board the Emeraude Cruise. Enjoy a cocktail at Emeraude Pier before boarding
Emeraude, a wonderful replica of one of the classic steamships of the colonial era of
French Indochina. With 37 luxurious air-conditioned cabins, a restaurant, two bars and
a sundeck. This is the ultimate Halong Bay experience. Lunch is served onboard at
13:00. Whilst cruising on the emerald green waters of the bay, try a traditional
Vietnamese massage or foot massage as an optional extra. Another optional extra is
high tea served on the sundeck in the late afternoon.
Day 4: Emeraude Cruise – Halong Bay - Hanoi (B, D)
Wake up to fresh coffee and a wholesome breakfast before cruising back to the pier.
Early morning Tai Chi is an optional extra and is available on the sundeck from 6:00 to
7:00 before breakfast. Arrive back at the pier at 09:20 for disembarkation. Transfer
back to Hanoi by road. Arrive in Hanoi, check into hotel. Dinner is at Hoa Sua
Restaurant (this restaurant is run by a charity organization that trains orphans or
disadvantaged children). Overnight in in Hanoi.
Day 5: Day Trip To Mai Chau (B,L,D)
After breakfast, transfer to Mai Chau to visit the ethnic White Thai’s village and it’s
surroundings. Lunch is at the White Thai’s village with a traditional music and dance
performance. Return to Hanoi in the afternoon, if time permits we will stop by to visit
the ethnic Muong’s village in Hoa Binh on the way back. This will be discussed with the
local guide. Western set dinner at Press Club. Overnight in Hanoi.
Day 6: Hanoi – Hue (B,L,D)

After early breakfast, transferring to the airport for a short flight to Hue - the
former Imperial Capital of Vietnam - on VN241 departing at 06:30am. Upon arrival in
Hue at 07:40 am, transfer in for the tour of Hue: boat trip on the romantically named
Perfume River visits Hue’s best-known religious site, Thien Mu Pagoda and by road visit
to the mausoleum of former emperor Minh Mang in a tranquil setting of gardens and
lakes. Lunch is at a local restaurant before visiting the elaborate mausoleums of
emperors Tu Duc and Khai Dinh and at the end of the day, we explore the lively Dong
Ba Market. Buffet dinner is in hotel. Overnight in Hue.
Day 7: Hue – Danang – Hoi An (B,L,D)
After breakfast at hotel, visit to the Imperial Citadel from where the Nguyen
Dynasty ruled between 1802 and 1945. We depart Hue for Hoi An via Danang, our
driver will take you over the Lang Co Beach, Hai Van Pass (one of the highest passes in
Vietnam). Stop in Danang to visit the Cham Museum containing the finest collection of
Cham sculpture in the world. Lunch is at Kim Do Restaurant. Before going on to Hoi An,
visit five sacred hills known as the Marble Mountains containing dozens of Buddhist
shrines on the way. On arrival in Hoi An transfer to hotel. Hoi An was a major Asian
trading port in the 17th and 18th centuries and its architecture and relaxed lifestyle
has changed little over the years. Take a walking tour of the ancient town centre to
visit former merchants’ houses, the 400 year-old Japanese Covered Bridge and the
colourful market. Western set dinner is at Tam Tam Café. Overnight in Hoi An .
Day 8: Half-day Cooking Class (B,L,D)
We start the day (8.15am / 2pm) with a drink at Hai Scout Café (98 Nguyen Thai Hoc
Street, Hoi An Ancient Town, Tel: 863210) - our meeting point.
Visit Hoi An’s colourful market, and experience the amazing sights, sounds and aromas of
this busy market. We will have the opportunity to interact with the local sellers and
purchase some of the ingredients to be used in the cooking lesson later.
We board the Red Bridge boat for a leisurely cruise (25 minutes) along the Hoi An River to
the Red Bridge Cooking School. This is a chance to view local river life, so make sure your
camera is handy.
On arrival, we explore the cooking school’s herb and vegetable garden, before learning
about some of Hoi An’s and Vietnam’s well-known dishes. The cooking lesson runs for
about 2 hours - each dish is first demonstrated by the Red Bridge chef’s, before we prepare
the same dish ourselves. Included in the class is a brief introduction to Vietnamese food
carving (plate decoration).
After the lesson, we sit down and eat exactly what we have cooked.

Day 9: Hoi An – Danang – Nha Trang (B)

Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to Danang Airport to catch a short flight to Nha Trang.
Upon arrival in Nha Trang, transfer to hotel. Free at leisure on your own. Overnight
hote in Nha Trang.
Day 10: Nha Trang (B, L)
Breakfast at hotel. A morning boat trip on Nha Trang Bay visits some of the nearby
islands and there are opportunities to swim and snorkel in the clear warm waters.
After a fresh seafood lunch on board return to shore for an afternoon tour with visits
to the Ponagar Cham Towers, the Long Son Pagoda and explore the lively Dam Market.
Overnight in Nha Trang.
Day 11: Nha Trang–Ho Chi Minh–City tour & Cu Chi Tunnels (B,L,D)

After breakfast, transfer to the airport for flight to Ho Chi Minh City at 7:45. Arrive
in HCM City at 8:40 and start a morning city tour A morning city tour of dynamic Ho Chi
Minh City (still called Saigon by many locals) takes you to the former Presidential Palace,
the Notre Dame Cathedral, Old Saigon Post Office, a lacquerware factory and the Thien
Hau Pagoda in the city’s bustling Chinatown. Lunch is at the Indochine Restaurant. Visit to
the famous Cu Chi Tunnels, an incredible underground tunnel network constructed by
Vietnamese resistance fighters for independence. Return to Ho Chi Minh City. Dinner is at
Liberty Restaurant. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day 12: Day Trip to Vinh Long (B,L)
Depart Ho Chi Minh City for a scenic morning drive to Cai Be, 100km from Ho Chi Minh
City. From Cai Be, take a boat trip along the mighty Mekong River and its tributaries to
view the daily lives of people who work and play on the waterways of the Mekong Delta.
The trip includes a visit to the floating market at Cai Be, to family-run industry
villages making rice paper, ceramic, etc...Visit to a ancient house of Mr. Hai Kien,
renovated by Japanese architects on Binh Hoa Phuoc Island. After lunch, cruise back
to Cai Be and return by road to Ho Chi Minh City in late afternoon. . Overnight in Ho Chi
Day 13 Free Leisure Day (B,D)
After breakfast, enjoy your leisure day or go crazy on shopping spree.
In the evening, dress up for dress up for a wonderful buffet dinner at New World Hotel. It
is also an excellent opportunity for everyone to share photos and reminisce all the events of
this trip while celebrating the ending of this successful “Vietnam Discovery Tour”.
Overnight in Ho Chi Minh City.
Day14 HO CHI MINH – ADELAIDE (B)
