Fitness is the ability to meet the needs and development of the environment. Fitness No matter how fit you are regular exercise will make you fitter. So… the more exercise you do the fitter you will get. Exercise Health Reasons for participation . To stay HEALTHY you need to keep FIT and to keep fit you need to EXERSISE and eat HEALTHY. You can not be healthy with out being fit enough. e.g a broken arm (poor physical health) which means you cant do school work and are not capable of meeting the demands of your environment. Katie wasn’t fit enough so seeked help from a doctor. HEALTH Social reasons for participation. You need to learn social behaviour to fit in and doing sport will teach us with confidence and co-operation. By doing different activities you make new friends and learn to do new things. You get the feeling that you have a value to society. Katie chose to do sport because her friends encouraged her. SOCIAL Professional reasons for participation. Many people do something to do with sport for a job, for example coaching, managing or actually playing the sport. Thierry Henry gets paid over 10 million pounds a year playing football for Arsenal. He gets paid for doing it so he is PROFESSIONAL. Professional LEADERSHIP Without a leader nothing would ever get done, because everyone would take a backseat. CO-OPERATION Everyone needs to work with each other to make the team work. If everyone ignored eachother nothing would ever get done. TEAMWORK THERE IS NO “I” IN “TEAM” everyone needs to participate to make it a success! Olympics The Olympics is part of a Social, Health and Professional reason for doing sport. The athletes are HEALTHY because they do sport, the coaches and referees are PROFESSIONALS and are paid to be there and the people who are influenced and inspired by the Olympics are SOCIAL.
