TOTSPOT IS LOS ANGELES' FAVORITE TECH STARTUP “Social Network for Babies, Toddlers, and Children” Named Winner of Twiistup’s Fan Favorite
SANTA MONICA, CA (February 13, 2009) – Family social publishing site, TotSpot (www.totspot.com), was voted the Fan Favorite at last night's Twiistup event, Los Angeles' premiere startup showcase. TotSpot.com, the world's first social networking site that enables parents to create private profiles about their children, garnered the most votes of the 11 startups selected as Twiistup "Showoffs." "We were thrilled by the response we received at an event with so many genuinely innovative companies," said Michael Broukhim, co-founder of TotSpot. “There's a tremendous energy to the Los Angeles technology scene, and we're glad to be part of it." “We’re happy for TotSpot that they won the Fan Favorite award last night,” said Mike Macadaan, founder of Twiistup. “Like all the companies that presented at Twiistup 5, TotSpot is a great example of the innovation in the Los Angeles Internet scene. We wish them the best of luck as they grow the company.” Dubbed "Facebook for kids," TotSpot.com gives parents the ability to easily create beautiful private profiles for their children – containing Firsts (mad-lib style milestones), Favorites, Growth Charts, Photos, Videos, and more. The Los Angeles-based company launched into public beta in June of 2008. Since then, more than 30,000 users have signed up, 200,000 photos have been shared, and 75,000 Firsts and Favorites recorded. TotSpot has been featured in the New York Times and named by RealSimple Magazine a "Top Website for Parents." Twiistup brings together the top startups in the L.A./Southern California area to demo their products and services. Visitors to the TotSpot table were able to build their own profiles and explore the TotSpot environment.
