The National Center for State Courts predicts that the country's increasing diversity may necessitate routine screening of jurors' language skills as part of voir dire.6 Already there is mounting pressure on courts to provide interpreters for jurors who are not proficient in English.7 Of the numerous challenges that changing demographics pose for state and federal courts nationwide, cultural diversity is the most compelling.
