The one thing the person running for dogcatcher to President has in common is that they all start with some sort of voter list. Data should be:
› Stupid-Simple › Fully Integrated › Actionable › Increasingly Intelligent

Just because web-based apps like iTunes and Gmail are easy to use doesn’t mean they were easy to build
› The thought and time that went into these programs
is inversely proportionate to how easy they are to use
A centralized data app like VoterVault is a good attempt but not much more
The fact that it is so hard to use is prohibiting people from using it If people don’t use it – is it worth it?

Centralizing all data output/input means coordinated data-driven decisions/communications A system must do it all;
› Mail, Email, Scan Sheets, VOIP, Teletownhalls, “new data”
Full integration is not a luxury it’s a necessity

Every piece of data collected should be analyzed with one question in mind
› “Can I use this to make my decisions smarter or
communications more effective?” › If the answer is no than it’s a waste of time.
Ensure what you collect is something you can take advantage of.

Efficient and Intelligent Data Collection is worth the time/money
› Spending extra time now means winning the close ones
later
Coordinated, multi-way communications lead to understanding why a voter votes, why a voter doesn’t vote, and what motivates them to vote in the future
› Use of Business Intelligence Tools http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Business_intelligence_tools › Eventually we can tell you whether someone can win a
district or not – tell me how much that is worth?

Data management is expensive
› Anyone who tells you they can effectively manage
data cheaply is probably a democrat spy
Data Management is Cost-Effective
› The goal of data management is to create optimal use
of resources
If you use resources optimally you save money
› “A penny saved is a penny earned.”
