The Blue Eskimo annual salary survey was run in December 2008 and probably provides the clearest picture of salary and work statistics in the UK's training and e-learning industries. The survey response was excellent, with 478 people completing the survey online, the majority of whom were from the UK, although some responses came from western Europe and north America. The majority of respondents came from soft skills companies (36%), but there was a strong show from e-learning (22%) and IT training (14%). The survey also attracted people from all organizational roles. The majority of respondents were trainers (22%) or from sales and marketing (19%). Despite most people being both challenged and happy, more than half of those surveyed are considering changing their jobs in the next 12 months. Work/life balance is not especially healthy and more than half of the people who responded are looking for a new job in 2009, albeit with their current employer.
