ALTERNATIVE NUTRITION
Alternative nutrition is a kind of nutrition that is not based on the diet which most people have. Kinds: vegetarian diet, vegan diet, makrobiotic diet, raw food diet, »fast food«.
VEGETARIAN DIET
“vegetus” = vital, fresh
• Vegetarian diet is a diet without any animal food or animal food products. It consists of different varietes of diet, depends on what a person does or does not eat.
We know:
• pescovegetarians: they do not eat meat but they do eat fish • ovolactovegetarians: they do not eat meat and meat products but they do eat eggs and milk • vegans: they eat food without meat, eggs and other animal products
• semi vegetarias: they only limit their consumation of meat, they do not eat red meat and consume only poultry and fish • makrobiotic diet • raw food diet: raw food • frutarians: fruit
Reasons for choising a vegetarian diet:

VEGAN DIET
• Vegan is a vegetarian who avoids eggs, dairy products, leather, silk, wool, honey and other products that contain animal composings or are tested on animals.
MAKROBIOTIC DIET
• Makrobiotic diet is based on the relationship of yin (woman:sugar, coffee, tea, cream, yoghurt, alcohol, spices) and yang (man: meat, eggs, solid cheese, fish). Harmonic food which contains the same amount of yin and yang, is for example soya, peas, fruit, grains, etc.
RAW FOOD DIET
• Raw food diet is raw food, fruit and vegetable without cooking. • On a long term this diet is not suitable if it is not carefully balanced. • One of the forms of raw food diet frutarian diet (eating only fruit).
SOME LESS KNOWN DIET
• group that eats bigger amount of sprouts • Living Fooders: eat sprouts and seeds • Natural Hygienists: eat raw food and vegetable, sprous and seeds • Instinctive Eaters: eat food according to smell and taste • Frutarians: mostly eat fruit • followers of the ayurvedic cooking; a form of diet which follows philosophic directions
ORTOREXIA NERVOSA
• In the era of healthy diet a new interference of eating emerges, obsession with healthy food. The word was used for the first time by an American doctor who pracitices alternative medicine, Steven Bratman, in his book “Health Food Junkies” 9 years ago.
WRONG!
• Who does not eat meat suffers from a lack of albumen. • Not eating meat means eating only grains. • Pregnant women must eat meat or else their unborn children suffer. • Babies and children need meat.
