In an interview, Charles R. Evans, FACHE, president and CEO of the International Health Services Group, talked about his career. On what attracted him to the healthcare management field, he said he was raised in a family where great emphasis was placed on being good, being kind and being someone who loves other people. It was important to him that his professional life reflect those same values. His goal always has been to work effectively as a member of a team of professionals in delivering quality health services. On how ACHE contributed to his success as a healthcare executive, he said ACHE has played an important role in four key areas of his professional development and career advancement: ethics, lifelong learning, networking and the professional credential. In addition to the ongoing formal learning opportunities ACHE provides, its Code of Ethics and Policy Statements provide a very helpful framework for decision making in some of the most challenging circumstances.
