					GEOMATICS OFFICER Posting No. 104503 PLANNING, PROPERTY and DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT
The City of Winnipeg is seeking a Geomatics Officer who will be responsible for the provision of real property related services to ensure the successful conclusion of the City’s acquisition and disposition of land and interests therein, in addition to establishing, maintaining, and restoring the legal and control survey networks in accordance with the City’s mandatory responsibility and statutory obligations. The ideal applicant will have a Professional Land Surveying designation and will have or be able to successfully attain their commission as a Manitoba Land Surveyor by April 2010. They will have a degree or diploma in Geomatics Engineering along with a certificate of completion from the Canadian Board of Examiners for Professional Surveyors. Land Surveyors from across Canada are welcome to apply under the Mutual Recognition Agreement. They will have knowledge and experience in matters related to real property law, survey law, the land surveying profession, title interpretation and the Torrens and Old System registry and understand and have experience in geodetic control surveys. They will be knowledgeable in the Geomatics industry and the Land Titles Office modus operandi together with legislation, registration procedures and real property documents. They will understand the policies and procedures and legislation involved in real property, subdivision development, expropriations and street openings/closings. They will also have experience pertaining to legal surveys, plan preparation and legal principles affecting ownership. A comprehensive salary and benefits package is offered.
