Will Southern California Water Company change its name? Yes. Effective October 1, 2005 Southern California Water Company, ArdenCordova Water Service and California Cities Water Company will be collectively known as Golden State Water Company. The new name will promote state-wide identity. Does the name change mean that SCWC has been sold? No. Golden State Water Company is the same great company that has provided wholesome tap water to customers in California for more than 75 years. The utility has not been purchased, sold or acquired. Golden State Water Company will continue to be a subsidiary of American States Water Company. Golden State Water Company will also continue to provide the same outstanding customer service, just like Southern California Water Company. Same great company, same great service! When will the company name change happen? The company name change takes effect on Saturday, October 1, 2005. Southern California Water, Arden-Cordova Water Service and California Cities Water Company will then be known as Golden State Water Company. Will Bear Valley Electric Service change its name? No. The name of Bear Valley Electric Service remains the same. Bear Valley Electric, which serves more than 20,000 customers in the communities surrounding Big Bear Lake, will continue to be a division of the regulated water company, Golden State Water Company. Why is the water utility changing its name? This new name expresses our pride — as a leading public water utility serving residents in the Golden State — while conveying our growth and unity as one brand, rather than three. News Releases about the company name change have been sent to the electronic and print media. Will the Stock Symbol “AWR” change? No. The stock symbol “AWR” is related to the parent company, American States Water Company, and will remain the same. . How should I make out my check?
