Children's Ride 13 Weekend / June 26 – June 29, 2008
Children's Ride is a volunteer driven event by the Imagine
Guild of Children's Hospital & Regional Medical
Center. The previous tweleve rides have raised nearly
$3 million for Children's Hospital. Proceeds from this
event help improve the lives of literally hundreds of
families with children in need.
Children’s Ride 12 was a tremendous success raising
$680,000 surpassing our goal of $600,000.
Edgar Martinez, Paul Yaffe and Brian Klock participated as
our featured ride celebrities during Children’s Ride 12. Mr. Klock customized a 2007 Harley-Davidson
Road Glide, which sold for $67,500 at the third annual Children’s Ride Gala and Auction. Zacky’s
Custom Rods and Downtown Harley-Davidson each donated a custom one-of-a-kind motorcycle selling
for $55,000 each. We are once again working with V-Twin Magazine to secure top names in the
motorcycle industry to serve as our Children’s Ride 13 celebrities.

Children’s Ride 13 – WSP escorted ride from Qwest Stadium. Plans are underway to host a concert at a
local venue featuring a nationally known artist to headline the event. We will make an announcement
very soon, once the concert venue an artist are finalized – June 29
Children’s Ride 13 Goal – We anticipate increasing our revenue growth by an additional $400,000 in
2008 with the addition of the concert.
The funds raised from Children’s Ride 13 Weekend benefit uncompensated care and diabetes research
at Children's Hospital & Regional Medical Center.
Uncompensated Care: For 100 years, residents throughout the Puget Sound area and all of
Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho, have known where to turn to confront injury, battle a life-
threatening condition or face a chronic illness. At Children's Hospital and Regional
Medical Center, the hands that reach out to heal are skilled and compassionate,
highly trained and personally motivated.
Many of the children served are from families who do not have the means to pay
for part or the full cost of care. Approximately 40% of the children treated are
eligible for Medicaid. In 2007, Children’s Hospital will provide $43 million in
uncompensated care to Northwest families in need.
Diabetes Research: Of Children’s endocrinology patients, 35-40 percent have diabetes. Approximately
200 newly diagnosed diabetes patients are referred each year. Diabetes can produce devastating long-
term effects such as kidney failure, blindness, nerve damage, amputation, heart attack and stroke.
Current research is diverse and includes work on lipid (fat) disorders, the epidemiology of diabetes and
various studies on growth and pubertal development disorders. Our goal is to assist in finding a cure and
eradicate this terrible disease.

How the Event Raises Money for Children's Hospital
There are five major components that contribute to the donation to Children's Hospital.
Sponsorships
Corporate sponsorship ensures the success of the event for Children's Hospital.
In-Kind Donations
Children’s Ride has become popular not only for the camaraderie of the biker community coming
together for a worthwhile cause, but also for its escorted ride route, hospitality and the family atmosphere
at the BBQ and entertainment that follows. In-kind donations of auction items, food, supplies and
services help ensure the success of the event and allow us to make a higher monetary contribution to
Children's Hospital.
Children’s Ride Gala and Auction presented by V Twin Magazine
The fourth annual Children’s Ride Gala and Auction is scheduled for
Friday, June 27 at the Hyatt Regency in Bellevue. This chrome studded
affair features a live auction of 15 to 20 upscale items featuring a
custom motorcycle. Tickets are $150.00 per person.
Ride Registration
Children’s Ride offers a basic ride registration fee of $60.00 per person.
Registration includes a T-shirt, patch, pin and participation in the
escorted ride, BBQ and admission to the concert venue. Registration is
available at a reduced rate for children up to 12 years of age.
The Children’s Ride Posse package is available at $500 per person. Participants who register at this
level will have access to all Children’s Ride 13 Weekend activities including the Children’s Ride Gala and
Auction, a private escorted ride with event celebrities, catered meals, VIP placement during Children’s
Ride 13 as well as select Children’ Ride 13 merchandise.
Individual Gifts and Pledges
Many who participate in Children’s Ride make individual donations through the Imagine Guild to help
further our fundraising efforts. These tax-deductible gifts range from $25.00 to $10,000.
Special denim shirts are awarded to individuals who collect pledge money totaling $500 or more from
family, friends and co-workers

Who is Children's Hospital?
2007 marked the 100th anniversary of Children's Hospital &
Regional Medical Center. Children's Hospital is the premier
regional pediatric care center in the Pacific Northwest, with
national prominence for its clinical expertise and affiliation with
the University of Washington.
Children’s provides the very best medical care to the children of
the Pacific Northwest regardless of their ability to pay. The
medical center is at the forefront of providing a comprehensive
range of health care services. It serves as the pediatric referral
center for health care providers throughout Washington, Alaska,
Montana and Idaho.
Children’s conducts research in the development of new treatments for childhood illnesses and diseases.
Its affiliation with the UW has helped Children’s become a renowned research center and serves as an
academic resource for teaching future health care providers. The hospital’s mission also includes a role
as an effective advocate for children’s health and safety.
The Seattle campus is a 250-bed facility with more than 50 outpatient clinics, which provide specialty
care from allergies and asthma to transplants. For the benefit of Eastside families, Children’s Bellevue
provides a variety of specialty clinical services, while Odessa Brown Children’s Clinic in Seattle’s Central
Area provides primary medical, dental and mental health services. Children’s also oversees an
extensive home health care program throughout the Pacific Northwest with expertise in complex pediatric
therapies for intravenous infusion and respiratory care, in-home nursing care, medical equipment and
short-term staffing for hospitals and clinics.
Children’s touches people’s lives through numerous community programs, especially those promoting
children’s health and safety. Programs, often in partnership with other child advocacy organizations,
focus on infant and toddler safety, immunization, home safety and injury prevention efforts in areas such
as bike helmet and drowning and baby-sitter training.
Where does the money go? What is it used for?
Proceeds from Children's Ride are donated to uncompensated care and diabetes research at Children's
Hospital & Regional Medical Center. Last year’s ride was a tremendous success raising $680,000 for
Children's Hospital bringing our twelve-year total to nearly $3 million. Thanks to the continued
generosity of our event sponsors and community supporters, the Hospital is able to continue this worthy
mission.
