The Sun-Sentinel is proud to be the official newspaper partner with Broward Schools Character
Education Program with the “Sun-Sentinel Kids of Character” awards program. This component
honors students who go above and beyond while exhibiting specific character traits. Each week from
October through April, a student is recognized in the newspaper and on CW News at Ten.

In addition to the weekly stories, teachers recognize one “Kid of Character” each month in their
classrooms with a certificate for exemplary behavior relating to that month’s character trait.
Additionally, one child is selected every month from each school to receive a plaque as recognition as
the “Kids of Character” Student of the Month.

The program wraps up with a year-end awards ceremony honoring all Top Honoree and Honorable
Mention “Kids of Character,” as nominated by their schools. All of the year’s “Kids of Character” are
recognized in annual Kids of Character editorial pullout section in the Sun-Sentinel.

As part of this partnership, the Sun-Sentinel would like to offer you a subscription discount of up to
35% off the regular price so you can read about these “Kids of Character” each week in the Sun-
Sentinel. You can also find all of the latest news concerning your community’s schools every day in
