In Virginia, we operate under the name Dominion Virginia Power. The Virginia service territory encompasses the northwestern, central, and eastern portions of the Commonwealth – approximately 65% of Virginia’s total land area. However, this area accounts for approximately 80% of Virginia’s population. Included in this area are the Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC; the I-81 corridor between Lexington and Harrisonburg; Richmond, VA (state capital); and the Tidewater areas of Virginia Beach and Norfolk. In North Carolina, we operate under the name Dominion North Carolina Power. The North Carolina service territory extends from the I-95 corridor between Roanoke Rapids and Rocky Mount eastward to the Outer Banks of North Carolina. Our service territory in both North Carolina and Virginia is not all encompassing in that certain areas are provided electricity by electric cooperatives or via municipal utilities.
