The many problems with the old
latrines
Dago Thim had no functioning
sanitation facilities for its 601
students
Poor health
The health consequences of
unsatisfactory sanitation facilities
are obvious - access to proper
sanitation is essential to basic
human survival
Safety
The gaping hole left by the former
latrine site posed a serious safety
hazard to the children on the
Dago Thim campus
Discomfort
The old latrines emitted an
offensive and distracting smell
Benefits of new latrines
Improved health
Updated latrines will minimize the health
risks associated with public sanitation
facilities
Better construction
New latrines are being constructed with an
improved design (by consultation of a local
architect)
Enhanced school pride
Proper sanitation facilities will transform an
offensive eyesore into a symbol of school
pride
