The Normandy Property Show is now less than two weeks away. This week‟s press release moves away from the
subject of property purchase …. Let‟s not forget that buying your property is only the first step of an exciting journey
into the unknown. Normandy is a place of great culture, history, art, cuisine and beauty ….. this week‟s press
release covers the three authors that we have coming to the show – all with books on Normandy. Images of the
book covers are attached to the email.

1. S.E. Fitzgerald Eighteen hours with capricious Violette
This exciting novel, set on both sides of the Channel, follows the fascinating relationship between Michael, a
divorced Englishman, and enigmatic Violette, from Normandy, who has moved to London. As they meet to
converse in French, the reader is invited to follow their interactions, and feel the occasional electricity between
them. However, theirs is an unpredictable relationship, beset with misunderstandings, preconceptions, and
secrets on both sides. Will they ever progress beyond the formality of conversation to deepen their entente
   cordiale?

Written with touches of humour and poignancy, this novel features simple French dialogues, and celebrates
Anglo-French relations. It also marvels at the cultural richness of Normandy, from its cuisine and Calvados to
   the awe-inspiring Mont-Saint-Michel.

S E Fitzgereld is a writer and linguist who studied languages at a northern university and has lived in France
and Switzerland. Now living in Surrey with her family, she loves to visit Normandy and took part in a literary
festival there in summer 2008. Of this novel she says: „I hope readers will warm to Violette, with her caprices
and fragility, and her effect on a cool, logical Englishman. Also I hope they will enjoy dipping into the French
language, which offers its own charm and mystery.‟

2. Rob Silverstone: A Mule in Rouen – A Discovery of Upper Normandy
Follow the trail of our good mule as he discovers the town of Rouen. A place of gothic splendour and cobbled
streets unchanged through the passage of time. Discover Normandy as the cradle of Impressionist art, home to
Maupassant and Madame Bovary. Sit at the Café Metropole as Sartre and De Beauvoir did before you. Glide
through the apple blossom in countryside still peopled by artisan farmers, producers of sumptuous cheeses and
calvados, confit de canard and boudin blanc. Follow the journey of an Englishman as he sets up a restaurant
beside the little river Robec, in the old dyers quarter of town. Experience his encounters with a Kafkaesque state
and the deeply mistrustful Rouennais. Set foot in every untrodden corner of Upper Normandy. A little local
history tour that is good enough to eat.

3. Joanna Reintjes and Philippa Weitz: Find your Feet in Normandy – Top Tips for Property Purchase and
   Settling into Normandy Life
This book has been written together with the group of professionals that we have developed in Normandy and is
intended as a pocket reference, packed with 60 pages of tips and advice and useful addresses. It includes
topics such as how to start a business in France, making the most of your money, schooling, healthcare as well
as up to date information about the house buying process. Both authors will be available at the show for
   interviews.
