BOOT-UP MENU                                              menuitem=windows,     Windows 98 environment
For a BOOT Up Menu which allows you to start in DOS or    menuitem=wan,         WAN Monitor
WINDOWS, with a default to WINDOWS after 5 seconds, add   menuitem=wancfg,      WAN Monitor configuration
the following lines to your AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS   menudefault=windows,5
files
                                                          PLACE THE FOLLOWING LINE [common] in front of
                                                          all your existing CONFIG.SYS entries

rem KEEP YOUR EXISTING AUTOEXEC.BAT entries               [common]

                                                          Using this BOOT UP MENU system, you will be able to run a
                                                          single DOS program. On exiting that program WINDOWS will
                                                          start up. To STAY IN DOS, after running a DOS program, you
:wan                                                      must also make changes to a hidden system file called
                                                          MSDOS.SYS, which is in your root directory. The change is
                                                          simply to alter the Line BootGUI=1, to BootGUI=0.
c:                                                        You can only see the file MSDOS.SYS if you use Windows
                                                          EXPLORE and configure it to show Hidden Files

                                                          Point to MY COMPUTER
monitor                                                   Right Click on the mouse
                                                          Run EXPLORE and point to C:
                                                          Double click on C: to show the files in the root directory
goto end                                                  Select VIEW->OPTIONS->VIEW
                                                          Select SHOW ALL FILES, and click OK
                                                          Go to the right panel of EXPLOE
                                                          Make a copy of current MSDOS.SYS, by highlighting the file
:wancfg                                                   name, and right click, double click on COPY
                                                          Click on EDIT on the TOP Tool BAR, and Select PASTE

                                                          Now Highlight MSDOS.SYS, and righ click to Select

monitor/m                                                 Unselect READ ONLY, HIDDEN and ARCHIVE properties.

                                                          Go to DOS and copy the MSDOS.SYS from the MONITOR
:end                                                      diskette in to C:/ to overwrite the existing.
