Background & justification for the proposed training: Describe the context and rationale? 2. Problem identification/definition: ! ! ! ! Title of the training course What problem is the proposed training activity expected to address? Describe the nature and scope of the problem. What method did you use to identify the problem? State if there has been earlier training needs assessment undertaken either by your organisation or by others. Sector: public private 3. Goals: General description of ideal situation after solving constraints/problems. 4. Proposed Action: Description of proposed activity giving proposed dates. ! Number of participants (disaggregated in terms of gender) Geographical coverage of your target group. How many countries will be represented? Location: Where will the training activity be held? Give reasons for choice of location. 6. Objectives: Individual outcomes that contribute to reach the goal. A statement of the performance objectives of the prospective trainees that would contribute to the desired condition, expressed from the point of view of the participants. What will the participants be able to do differently as a result of the training. Example: After training the participants will be better able to: ! identify various types of scientific data and their collection procedures ! perform routine and advanced data screening and integrity checks ! identify users' characteristics and needs using standardized tools and techniques; ! define the scope and procedures of a Question and Answer Service; ! develop an agricultural information resource base at their home institutions ! manage a question-and-answer service in their respective countries; ! provide training to colleagues, based on a plan of action developed during the course 7. Methodology: Specify strategies and methods to be used. ! How do you intend to implement the training? Training delivery methods: brainstorms, practical sessions in field or lab, lectures, group work, etc. 8. Resources: Specify the resources required to carry out the plan and indicate what your institution can provide. ! Physical & material assets: Do you have any training facility such as conference halls, laboratories etc available for use in this training? If not, where do you intend to conduct the activity? What equipment do you possess to support and facilitate the training? e.g. computers, projectors, etc. Human: State the availability of internal capacity and competence to run any aspect of the training activity. Financial: State your normal financial outlay for training in any given year. What resources do you have to support this training course? What plans do you have in place for a follow up of the beneficiaries of the training to ensure the sustainability of the gains of the training? ! ! ! 9. Follow up plans: ! 10.
