*Competitors unable to register at this time must make prior arrangements with the SYC Sailing Secretary. Non-
compliance may result in exclusion from the event.

All competitors and their friends are honorary members of the Salcombe Yacht Club for the duration of their stay in
Salcombe for this event. Over 18s are welcome in the competitively priced Club Bar. Lunches will be served
between 12 noon and 2pm.
                                                               CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

All races will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2009 - 2012 or its successor, RYA prescriptions and applicable
Class Association rules, except as modified by the Sailing Instructions, Entry Form and any Notices to Competitors posted in Salcombe Yacht
Club. At Registration all dinghies must present a valid Measurement Certificate with current buoyancy endorsement. Boat owners shall be
members of the Merlin Rocket Association and helms, if not the owner shall be Associate Members of the Merlin Rocket Association.

It shall be the sole responsibility of each yacht to decide whether or not to start or to continue to race.
By participating in a race conducted under these rules each competitor and yacht owner agrees :

    (i) to be governed by the above rules
(ii) to accept the penalties imposed and other action taken in accordance with the rules, subject to the appeal and review procedures
provided in them, as the final determination of any matter arising under the rules; and
(iii) with respect to such a determination, not to resort to any court or tribunal not provided by the rules.
(iv) The Salcombe Yacht Club reserves the right to make any alterations it may deem necessary.

A boat is entirely responsible for its own safety, whether afloat or ashore, and nothing, whether in the Notice of Race or Sailing
Instructions or anywhere else reduces this responsibility.
It is for the boat to decide whether it is fit to sail in the conditions in which it finds itself. By launching or going to sea the boat confirms
that it is fit for those conditions and that its crew is competent to sail and compete in them.
The boat is required to hold adequate insurance and in particular to hold insurance against third party claims in the sum of at least £1M.
Nothing done by the organisers can reduce the responsibility of the boat nor will it make the organisers responsible for any loss,
damage, death or personal injury, however it may have occurred, as a result of the boat taking part in the racing. The organisers
encompass everyone helping to run the race and the event, and include the organising authority, the race committee, the race officer,
patrol boats and beachmasters.
The provision of patrol boats does not relieve the boat of its responsibilities.

                                                              OTHER REQUIREMENTS

PLEASE NOTIFY THE SAILING SECRETARY OF ANY CHANGES TO YOUR ENTRY AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. CHANGE OF BOTH BOAT
AND HELM IS DEEMED TO BE A NEW ENTRY AND IF THERE IS A WAITING LIST AT THE TIME OF NOTIFICATION THEN THE ENTRY
WILL BE MOVED ONTO THE WAITING LIST. THE DECISION OF THE CLUB IS FINAL.

MILLBAY beach is privately owned and the owners very kindly allow competitors to keep their boats there during Merlin Rocket Week. Please
take care not to create a nuisance to the owners. Park your boat well away from the houses and slipways, to seaward of the marked area and
at least two boat lengths above the high water mark so that other boat users can access the water and children can play safely in the shallows.
There is a recommended donation of £10 per week per boat, the surplus after expenses will go to local charities. SYC will be issuing a sticker to
indicate that a donation and its duration (maximum of 4 weeks per boat in any one calendar year) has been paid, boats left on the beach beyond
their permit will be removed at the boat owners expense.

The National Trust owns the Millbay Car Park and the approaches to the beach. Time will be allowed for unloading and loading boats, but cars
and road trailers must be moved from the beach road as soon as possible.

There is a large slipway for launching at the Creek Car Park. An area will be set aside for unloading and loading boats. Cars and trailers must
be removed from this area and boats must be moved across to Millbay, as quickly as possible as space is limited. Similarly on return from
Millbay boats must be loaded on trailers and removed from the area promptly. An area for road trailers is provided, for which a charge is made.
Boat, trailer and car spaces can be reserved for the week. Please check with the Car Park Attendant, or at the Harbour Office, Whitestrand
Quay. Tel 01548 843791.

Salcombe Estuary is very popular, with many pleasure and commercial craft. Please show consideration for other users and sail safely at all
times.
