COURSE DESCRIPTION: The Internet is a worldwide collection of computer networks that allow people to
communicate with each other. Everyday, millions of people use the Internet at home and at work to research
information, purchase goods and services, and speak to each other via electronic mail. This course introduces
students to the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) and to some of the ways in which the Internet and the
WWW can be used within the office workplace.

COURSE OBJECTIVES: Students will be able to:

         Use Web browser general applications.
         Use directories and search engines to locate web pages, save, and print.
         Create bookmarks.
         Perform common business tasks using the WWW.
         Conduct business transaction via the WWW.

REQUIRED INSTRUCTIONAL MATERIALS TEXTBOOK – See Assignment Schedule #1
                                                                        USB / FLASH DRIVE (USB Storage Device) 256 MB or above
                                                                        1 BLANK CD –R (not a DVD-R)

BT210 SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS: We offer one-credit software courses in the popular Microsoft Office
suite. They include Word (word processing), Excel (spreadsheet), Access (database), PowerPoint
(presentation), Publisher (desktop publishing), Internet and Windows XP (operating system). Grading options
include letter, pass/no pass, and audit. You may take a maximum of four credit hours per term. Students
will receive assistance accompanying their hands-on learning under the guidance of instructors and trained
assistants.
