Dear Ms. Pathak: I am writing regarding the state of the kitchen facilities in the residence halls. My name is Rachna Desai and I have been a resident in Laurel Hall for the past two years, as well as an RA for summer ‘06. Through these experiences I have seen the need for improvement in the kitchen in Laurel Hall. Over the past two years I have noticed that many times it becomes a great inconvenience to have a kitchen that is not fully equipped. The problem is that the existing kitchen has many defects. The current stove is barely functional. From my experience of cooking in the kitchen I have noticed that the rings on the stove are slanted and therefore a hazard because the pots can easily fall off and burn you. The current refrigerator does not contain a freezer. Therefore students are unable to preserve the food they have cooked. Finally, while cooking it has become evident that the lack of pots, pans, and other cooking utensils is a great inconvenience. My suggestion is that Residence Life takes the following measures in order to provide a functional kitchen for its residents. My suggestions include: 1) Purchasing a new electrical stove, which is fully equipped with an oven, timer, light over head and in the oven, and 4 rings that are not hazardous. 2) Purchasing a new refrigerator, which contains a freezer, compartments, light, ice maker, water maker, and temperature adjuster. 3) Providing a larger sink to do dishes in as well as dish soap, towels, and a dish rack. 4) Providing a window for ventilation, as well as an exhaust fan to get rid of the fumes that constantly remain in the hallways. 5) Providing rental cooking equipment. Residence Life provides students with pool and ping-pong equipment for rent. Therefore my suggestion is that residence life should do the same for cookware. This is a good list but it needs to be written consistently and clearly. Thank you for taking the time to read this letter. I hope you take this letter into consideration and work towards improving the current kitchen conditions.

You have some wording/flow problems and I am not sure if this is for all kitchens or just the one in the dorm in which you live. It should make an excellent proposal.
