MARCH “PIE MEMO” (Partners in Education) Our 11th Annual Auction night is moving along with all sorts of donations in all sizes and shapes. Invitations are in the mail, the catalogue is in process and the Committee is busy reminding, collecting, soliciting and meeting to ensure another successful Auction. Your donations are very important so please return the attached form as quickly as possible.
BIDS FOR KIDS
We remind parents to send your response via mail or drop off at Mercymount since students often forget to turn in your tickets which causes some embarrassment at the door on Auction night. Thank you.

In the middle of all this Auction excitement, our time and talents are well-served also at the 15th Invitational Basketball Tournament. Bravo to Mark M. and Brian L., chairpersons and to all the moms, dads, alums, grandparents, etc. who have offered to help. See attached.

TLC will extend the drive until Tuesday, March 8th.
STUDENT COUNCIL
The Student Council is hosting Mercymount’s first-that-I-know-of ski trip to Nashoba Ski Area in Westford, MA. Thirty students in Gr. 7 and 8 along with teachers and chaperones will head for an evening of skiing on March 10th. We hope it only snows west of Cumberland though!
SOCIAL EVENTS
Mark your calendars, dads and those significant men in our girls’ lives. The annual Father-Daughter Dance will be held on Friday, April 29th for girls in K-8 (see attached). PLAY BALL! Not to be outdone, moms and sons are invited to our 3rd annual PawSox game at McCoy Stadium…date to be announced. We’re happy to have some talented musicians spend time with us during March. Senora D’s brother and his dance troupe, “Dreams of Diversity” will entertain us again this year on Friday, March 4th at 1:10. Mrs. M’s father and uncle, the nationally famous S. Brothers, will perform with their harmonicas on Monday, March 14th at 1:00. All are welcome. The annual Mercymount musical is “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and will be performed on May 13-14, 2005. We’re busily preparing and rehearsing for what will be our best performance yet! We are seeking help from people who are willing to help us acquire some stage lighting and an auxiliary sound system for the show. If you have local contacts or are able to help, please call Mr. T. as soon as possible. We would be happy to do some free advertising in the program for anyone able to help us out!

BACKYARD DRIVERS!
I know that the parking lot is busy at dismissal but it’s also becoming unsafe! Drivers – parents, siblings, grandparents, nannies – must not ignore common courtesy and safety rules, especially with so many children in the area. Speaking of children, we do not allow them on the snow banks or playground at 3:00. They must go with you to your cars so that everyone leaves in order. Two teachers in charge each day are on duty to supervise, not to socialize. Please talk to them at a more convenient time. Thank you.
SYMPATHY and
The prayers and sympathy of the Mercymount community are extended to Jacqueline C. on the recent death of her father, Edward C,.
COMFORT
Our prayers and assistance are also extended to Diane R., mother of Jacob, Madeline and Thomas. Diane was hit by a car last week and is in RI Hospital recuperating from surgery. Her parish of Sacred Heart, North Attleboro is coordinating a daily plan for helping with meals, babysitting, car pooling, etc. If anyone is interested in assisting Diane and John, please call Connie at 508-643-9009 (W) or 508-643-9218 (H).
“Let us pray well and never get weary of doing what is good.”
Venerable Catherine McAuley

POT-OF-GOLD
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
Every year when the Pot-of-Gold rolls around, I am reminded of a conversation I had with one of the Mercymount dads. At the time, all our coaches were men and we were talking about the role and richness and responsibility of fatherhood. He shared with me how he loved being a father. I had never heard a parent put it quite that way and have never forgotten our quiet conversation on the corridor that day. As we enter this month of March and its familiar themes of Lent, St. Patrick’s Day, Spring, etc., I’d like to call to our collective minds a special father whom the Church recognizes as Saint Joseph. No doubt his days were less stressful than ours but he must have always felt loved and chosen by God and took delight in the responsibilities and rewards of his fatherhood. Being positive role models and men of character is not easy but I see it so often here at Mercymount. I admire and respect the dads who
relish and enjoy their fatherhood and so I promise all you fathers out there: you will be in my heartfelt prayers and the prayers of your children each day this month as we pray… May the road rise to meet you, may the winds be always at your back; may the sun shine warm upon your face and may God hold you in the palm of God’s hand!
Happy March!
