CPFilms Cracks Down on LLumar® Trademark Infringement
Sweep in Malaysia Nabs Three Unauthorized Distributors;
Consumers Warned to Beware of Imitation LLumar® Window Films
SINGAPORE – June 6, 2006 – CPFilms Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of
window films for automotive and architectural applications, today announced an international
initiative to crack down on LLumar® trademark infringement. The program initially focuses on
window film dealers in Southeast Asia that are intentionally misleading consumers through
unauthorized use of the LLumar® brand name in their shops or advertisements. This program
already has resulted in successful action against three companies in Malaysia.
“LLumar® is the world’s best-selling and most-trusted name in window films,” said John
P. Foryt, chief intellectual property counsel for Solutia Inc., the parent company of CPFilms.
“We are taking aggressive action to stop cases of trademark infringement and to protect the
LLumar® window films are sold through an authorized network of more than 10,000
LLumar® dealers and distributors around the globe. These dealers have been factory trained to
sell and install the product in buildings and/or automobiles. CPFilms provides these dealers with
extensive marketing and technical support to ensure they deliver a professional product to the
consumer. They are the only authorized source for genuine LLumar® window films and the
LLumar® factory warranty.
“Consumers trust the LLumar® brand to provide them with professional films that are
professionally installed,” said Ang Chok Boon, regional manager for Southeast Asia, CPFilms
Inc. “When unauthorized dealers attempt to mislead consumers, they are attacking this trust.
Our intellectual property enforcement program will help ensure anyone purchasing LLumar®
film receives the quality and service they deserve. We also encourage consumers to beware of
imitators, and to look for the word LLumar® printed on every roll.”
Anyone who suspects they have seen the LLumar® brand being misused or
misrepresented is encouraged to contact the CPFilms office in Singapore, at (65) 6357 6189 or
firstname.lastname@example.org. The identity of anyone making such a report will be kept confidential.
