programs in Saskatchewan to continue affiliating with Football Saskatchewan and become active
partners in the continued development of football in Saskatchewan.

enclosed roster form; 2) pay a $100.00 PER TEAM AFFILIATION FEE to Football
Saskatchewan. As a member of Football Saskatchewan you will receive a number of benefits, I have

have to be affiliated with Football Saskatchewan if you wish to apply for one of the grants that will be
given to high school football programs in Saskatchewan in 2008. For further information contact Jeff
Yausie in Saskatoon by calling 975-0827 or emailing jyausie@footballsaskatchewan.ca

Football Saskatchewan will provide grants to all high school football programs that affiliate with
Football Saskatchewan in 2008. All schools will be eligible for a grant of up to $300.00. The funds
come from three sources: Sask Sport's membership assistance program fund, the Saskatchewan
Roughrider Football Club and Football Saskatchewan. It is the intention of the Directors of Football
Saskatchewan to allocate some funds directly to our affiliated members and in this case directly to the
         high school programs.
Enclosed is a membership assistance program follow-up report, please complete this form detailing
how the grant would be spent, i.e. equipment, travel, etc. Enclosed is a sample of how the follow-up
report should be completed, please make sure you complete the entire form and sign it.

7. Purchasing and Maintaining Football Equipment Manual
Football Canada has published a PURCHASING & MAINTAINING EQUIPMENT manual. CFL
and CIS equipment specialists have professionally reviewed this manual and their recommendations
have been compiled in this manual.
This 50-page manual is specifically targeted to all those people operating amateur football programs
and its priority is the protection and safety of our young athletes. The majority of individuals who
volunteer to maintain football equipment require information on how and what to purchase as well as
how to fit and maintain their equipment. The turnover of equipment managers at the youth level is
extremely high so the value of this manual cannot be overemphasized.

We feel every team should have a copy of this manual to decrease the risk of guesswork with their
equipment and to improve safety conditions of the participants. The manual can be obtained from
Football Saskatchewan for $15.00. Please call the Football Office in Regina at 780-9239 or email
      mthomas@footballsaskatchewan.ca to place your order.

8. An Introduction to Football: A Guide for Novice Coaches
Football Canada has published a manual entitled “An Introduction to Football: A Guide for Novice
Coaches”. This 72-page publication provides basic information and has been designed to help the
novice coach get off to a good start. The first-time coach has a major influence on skill development
specific to football and the development of moral and ethical values of the young athletes. This
manual touches on a variety of subjects such as basic rules, regulations, ethics and fair play.

We feel every team should have one of these manuals as it will give that coach an understanding of
the important issues surrounding coaching football. The manual stresses the importance of equal
opportunity for all youngsters, and keeping sport in a healthy perspective. It provides checklists,
practice plans, tips for recruiting volunteers, and it offers some thoughts to help the coach reflect on
      his or her role.

The novice coaches’ manual can be obtained from Football Saskatchewan for $15.00. Please call the
Football Office in Regina at 780-9239 or email mthomas@footballsaskatchewan.ca to place your
      order.

9. High School Strength and Conditioning Program
Shawn Kuster with Athlete Development has produced a High School Strength and Conditioning
      Program for football.

The manual will consist of a comprehensive program designed for a high school athlete. It covers in
detail the areas of resistance training, exercise technique, flexibility, core strength development,
metabolic conditioning, and testing and evaluation of athletes. It includes a periodized 52-week
weight-training program that emphasizes the development of muscle mass, strength and power.

The Strength and Conditioning Program can be obtained by contacting the Football Saskatchewan
office in Regina. Please call 780-9239 or email mthomas@footballsaskatchewan.ca to place your
order. The manual can be purchased for the cost of $20.00.
