REGEN COMMITTEE MEETING: MINUTES 26/02/07 (Meeting Held in the Charles Neville Room at the Meridian Centre, 6pm.) PRESENT: Liz Lee (Chair), Marina Pepper, Sue Wells, Nikki Hussey, Steve Keogh, Eileen Russell, John Livings and Jackie Blackwell. APOLOGIES: Joy de Souza, Stewart Angell, Lynda Sutherland, Robin Fuller, Philip Howson, Robin Fuller, Sharon Buxton, David Neighbour, Kate Robinson. * A short period of reflection was observed at the opening of this meeting in memory of Sheila Chalmers. MINUTES OF LAST MEETING & MATTERS ARISING: Lewes District Council has agreed funding for the area development worker (Jackie Blackwell) for the coming year. YAT UPDATE: Climate Change Week: The dates for the Renewable Energy week project are unconfirmed but could be as early as March 12th according to the availability of Rinki-dink (dynamo energy activity for children). Karaoke Idol: The White Cliff Café is under new management and has expressed an interest in community involvement. A youth music event was discussed and the idea of a light-hearted Karoke- idol competition was thought to be most inclusive. The event is scheduled to take place on 13th April at the Café between 6.30-9.30pm for ages 13 to 17. Costing for the event will need to include advertisement and equipment hire. Marina Pepper to confirm date for Karaoke Idol. Parkour: A Parkour forum has been set up at PCS. Random Things (Youth Action Group) Update: Jackie Blackwell said that the listings project ‘Zero Degrees’ was going well and the group had a strong identity and had inspired new members. She said that once the web-based aspect was fully installed the project would be sustainable for future evolution. She will be meeting with a design company (Zero 51) to discuss building a site. Liz Lee said that acknowledging/congratulating young people on their achievement so far was important and that marking the phases of the project with some form of event should be considered. Jackie Blackwell is designing a leaflet advertising the ‘Random’ programme of events and Zero Degrees. The leaflet will include promotion of Regen. YOUTH SHELTER: The opening and hand over of the shelter will take place on Saturday 17 th March, (12pm-3.00pm) Ribbon cut 12pm. MUSIC FESTIVAL: A steering group has been set up (Liz Lee, Marina Pepper, Steve Keogh, Jackie Blackwell) and will meet soon to discuss the festival. Liz Lee to announce date of music festival steering group meeting. LAT UPDATE: Sue Wells said that funding was secured for the healthy food project. MARKETING LEAFLET: A Regen leaflet is to be produced raising the profile of the partnership and making people aware of its activities. The events, initiatives and projects facilitated by Regen will be featured. Funding for this promotion has been sought from Peacehaven Town Council. CLEAN STREETS PEACEHAVEN & TELSCOMBE: Liz Lee said that the initiative has been launched in the press and asked that problem areas be reported to herself or Sheila Baker. AOB: Downlands: John Livings said that the rebuilding of Downlands required East Sussex County Council to conduct extensive public consultation. He said that agreed facilities (Physio and Stress units and Surestart out reach) Excavations Keymer Avenue: John livings said that evidence of two round houses has been found. The site is of National interest due to its size of 2 ½ acres. Summer Play Scheme: Sue Wells said that the scheme will run on 28th and 29th of August throughout the district. (Peacehaven locations: The Bricky, Cinq foil, Collingwood and Trafalgar estate areas). Local Transport: Liz Lee asked that a date be set for the Local Transport Group forum. Rugby project: Liz Lee said that the project had commenced. Press Material: Jackie Blackwell asked that a record of Regen events/projects be kept using press material.
