MEMO FOR: ACCOMACK COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS FROM: MISSY MULHOLLAND SUBJECT: BACKGROUND ON ENTERPRISE ZONE AMMENDMENT
The Enterprise Zone can be amended once each year. We have received requests from local companies to expand our current Enterprise Zone. The proposed additional areas would not only benefit these companies, but also encourage the creation of additional jobs and additional revenue for the county. Additions in Painter, Onancock, New Church, and the Wallops Research Park include a total addition of 170.7 acres. The county can have a total of 3,840 acres in the Enterprise Zone. Currently the county has used 3,455.8 acres. If this amendment were accepted, the county would still have 213.5 acres available for future expansion. After the Public Hearing, if there is no objection I would request the following resolution/motion per Department of Housing and Community Development guidelines. ---Accomack County has held a public hearing to afford comments to the proposed amendment to the Enterprise Zone. The Board authorizes Mr. Miner to submit all information needed to apply for the zone amendment as presented. The Board authorizes Mr. Miner to also meet other program requirements as defined by the Enterprise Zone Regulations, throughout the life of the zone.
