Musical Theater Audition Information
March 27, 2010, 4-6PM
The audition will consist of three parts: dancing, singing and acting.
No advance preparation necessary. We will be teaching a short song and
dance and will give out lines from the script to read at the audition.
Audition forms will be provided and mandatory for students and their
parents to fill out prior to auditioning, along with an audition number.
Please bring a picture and resume if you have one. The picture does not have to be
professional and a section for previous performing experience will be provided on
the audition form if you do not have a resume. However, resumes are encouraged
and always good to have in case of professional auditions in the future! Many on-
line websites provide entertainment resume templates and examples.
The first hour of the audition will be spent in rotations learning audition material.
So please don’t be late since this will be a very important portion of the audition for
students to do well.
• For the dance portion, please wear appropriate dance attire (all black dance
clothing and jazz, ballet, and tap shoes, if you tap).
• For the singing portion, students will learn a short singing section and will be
auditioning in groups. The dance and song will go together.
• For the acting portion, students will be asked to read short passages of the
Character descriptions will be posted on the board and website prior to the audition
for your convenience. You will be asked to list the character’s you wish to audition
for on the audition form, but you may also be asked to read other character parts as
Students who are being considered for speaking roles will receive callback sides
from the director at the end of the audition and will be asked to attend a call back
the following Tuesday at 4:30PM.
Once cast, students will be asked to attend at least one Musical Theater class a week
to participate in the musical theater number; classes are offered on Mon. 5:30-7PM,
Tues. 4:30-6:30PM, and Fri. 5:30-7:30PM and will also need to take the Leads
Script Class Mon. 8-9PM. Some students (especially lead characters) may be asked
to attend a Wed. 4:30-5:30PM production class and/or extra Sat. or Sun. rehearsals.
These will be scheduled at a later time.
For students who want to participate in the musical theater
number, but are below the age limit of 6 (3-5yrs. old), a
Creative Dramatics class is offered Mon. 4:30-5:30 PM and a
Musical Theater class is offered Wed. 3:30-4:30.
