In the new European COST 536 research programme more than 25 partners from industry
and research institutes cooperate in the welding group in order to develop and to optimise
new creep resistant materials for the use in new power plants. This paper will show the
present status of this work.

The characterisation of all weld metal and of welded joints as well as the weldability of
modern ferritic-bainitic and of new modified 9-12 % Cr (cast-) steels is the main focus of this
paper.
