					Minority Nursing Education Foundation (MNEF) –
Minority Nursing Education Foundation formed in 2006 to assist minority individuals
who are seeking and/or continuing their nursing career. MNEF is a non-profit foundation
with a vision of serving the community through helping students prepare for employment
in the nursing field. MNEF offers scholarship opportunities for nursing students.

MNEF scholarships are for students who have successfully completed at least one year of
education in a nursing school. Selection of applications is made annually by a team of
MNEF members. Scholarships vary in amounts according to individual needs and
available funds.

MNEF aims to support individuals by providing financial assistance. The normal
timeframe for the scholarship is an announcement in May, application deadline in July,
and award announced in August. The following is the criteria to apply for an award
through MNED.

   1. At least 1 complete semester at an accredited pre/nursing program GPA 3.0

   2. FAFSA (Documentation of financial need)

   3. Work experience or current employment (if any)

   4. Essay 1600

2007 scholarships and loan repayment programs.

   1. Registered Nurse Education Program

              Pre-Nursing Scholarships up to $4000.00 (only for Central Valley
              BSN Scholarships up to $10,000
              RN Loan Repayment up to $10,000

   2. Allied Healthcare Scholarship Program
              Up to $3000 for students at 4-year colleges

   3. Health Professions Scholarships and Loan Repayment Programs available for
      Nurse Practitioners
          HP Scholarship up to $8000.
          HP Loan Repayment up to $10,000 (only for graduates of the HPSP

The postmark deadline for each program is March 24, and September 11 2007, unless

State Nursing Assumption Program of Loans for Education for Nurses in State
Facilities (SNAPLE NSF)

State Nursing Assumption Program of Loans for Education for Nurses in State Facilities
(SNAPLE NSF) – This program is intended to encourage registered nurses and students
who will become registered nurses to seek employment in state-operated 24-hour
facilities with a registered nurse vacancy rate of greater than 10%. It will pay up to a total
of $20,000.00 on outstanding student loans for full-time employment service as a
registered nurse in an eligible position in a state-operated 24-hour facility with a
registered nurse vacancy rate of greater than 10%. Applicants may be students in an
approved pre-licensure program or may have completed a program or may hold a license
to practice as a registered nurse in California.
