SETTING UP AND UPGRADING THE OIL & GAS DATABASE APPLICATION The Utah Division of Oil, Gas and Mining
If you already have the OIL&GAS Information System installed on your computer, skip "First-time Installation" and go directly to "Upgrading A Previous Installation." Otherwise, follow the instructions in the "First-time Installation" section to install the product on your computer.

FIRST-TIME INSTALLATION
Setting up the Oil-Gas application is a two-step process. The first step is setting up the application, the Visual Fox-Pro run-time engine, and a complete ODBC package on your computer. The second step is configuring the SQL ODBC Driver to provide a communication link between the front-end application and the back-end SQL Server. Follow the instructions below to set up the new Oil-Gas program on your computer.
Setting Up the Oil-Gas Application. 1) LOCAL (DOGM) users: Go to P:\Groups\Og\Ogmis\OilGasSetup\Netsetup to install from the Division of Oil, Gas and Mining LAN, or REMOTE users: Go to \\Utstate\UT\NR\OGM\Utstnrogm\Nrogm\Groups\Og\Ogmis\OilGasSetup\Netsetup if you are working from a remote site connected to the state WAN (Contact your Help desk for assistance if needed)*. Double-click on the Setup.exe program to begin the installation process. Follow the instructions generated by the setup program to enter setup information and to choose a home directory for your application. After the installation process is completed, take the following steps to configure the ODBC driver.

Configuring the SQL ODBC Driver. 1) 2) 3) 4) 5) 6) Open the Windows Control Panel on your computer. Double-click on the 32bit-ODBC icon on the Control Panel window. Select the User Data Source Name (DSN) tab on the ODBC Data Source Administrator window. Click Add button on the User DSN tab. When the Add Data Source window appears, choose SQL Server and click the OK button. In the ODBC SQL Server Setup window, enter the following information in the appropriate boxes with labels to the left and information to the right. Authenticity of the Login ID: Select “with SQL Server authentication...” Client Configuration: TCP/IP Login ID: Password: 7) ogmuser secret OR your previously assigned login and password
After the above information has been entered, click the OK button to complete the configuring task. You may need to re-start your computer for the new settings to take effect.

Running the Program. After installing the application and configuring the SQL ODBC driver, LOCAL (DOGM) users can run the latest version of the application from P:\GROUPS\OG\OGMIS\VFP60. Create a Windows shortcut icon directed to the file OGIS.EXE. REMOTE locations will need to run the application by using the OGIS.EXE file loaded on your hard-drive during the setup process. Create a Windows shortcut icon directed to the file. NOTE: The setup program installs an older version of the OGIS file to your computer. To get the latest version, follow the instructions in the “Upgrading a Previous Installation” section.

UPGRADING A PREVIOUS INSTALLATION TO A REMOTE LOCATION In order to run the latest version of the Oil & Gas Information System at a REMOTE location, the OGIS.EXE file on your hard-drive must be periodically updated. This can be done by occasionally copying the OGIS.EXE file from the WAN directory at \\Utstate\UT\NR\OGM\Utstnrogm\Nrogm\Groups\Og\Ogmis\VFP60 and replacing the old file with the new*.
