A meeting of the Conservation Areas/Community Relations Advisory Committee was held on
April 3, 2008 at Mountsberg Conservation Area.

At 6:30pm Dolf DeJong, Manager of Mountsberg and Crawford Lake, conducted a tour of
Mountsberg Maple Syrup Sugar Bush. Following the tour, staff provided a pancake meal for the
members. The meeting convened at the Discovery Centre at 7:40 p.m.

5.    Action Items

5.1   Ski and Snowboard Rental Equipment for the Glen Eden Rental Shop

THAT the Conservation Areas/Community Relations Advisory Committee recommend to the
Conservation Halton Board of Directors:

THAT Glen Eden commit to a 5-year replacement plan for the ski rental fleet through a
single source supplier (HEAD/Tyrolia)

AND FURTHER THAT Glen Eden commit to a 5-year replacement plan for the snowboard
rental fleet through a single source supplier (Burton)

This will require the outlay of approximately $80,000 in the initial season, and will then
reduce the annual fleet replacement budget to approximately $70,000, to maintain a fleet
relatively similar to our current size

5.2   Grooming Machine for Glen Eden Ski & Snowboard Centre for the 2008/2009 ski
      season

      Staff amendment: in the last sentence of the last paragraph of the report - the word
      “Leasing” should be replaced with the word “Purchasing.”

THAT the Conservation Areas/Community Relations Advisory Committee recommend to the
Conservation Halton Board of Directors to approve the purchase of a Model BR350 Bombardier
2009 Grooming Machine for the purchase price of $329,000, plus tax, as per the Glen Eden 10-
Year Capital Forecast and funded through the Glen Eden Reserve and paid back with
interest.

5.3   Conservation Awards of Excellence – 2008

      Hassaan Basit to send an e-mail to the Committee members with options for the next
      meeting. Board of Directors will vote on April 17, 2008

THAT the Conservation Areas/Community Relations Advisory Committee recommend to the
Conservation Halton Board of Directors that a committee comprised of three members
from the Conservation Areas/Community Relations Advisory Committee along with Board
Chair, Board Vice Chair and three members of staff serve as a selection committee for the
2008 Conservation Awards of Excellence.

6.    Information Items

6.1   Update on Mountsberg Maple Syrup Festival – verbal

      Dolf DeJong, Park Manager of Mountsberg, provided an update on Mountsberg Maple
      Syrup Festival

      Susan O’Neil, Marketing Services Manager, provided a marketing update with regards to
      Mountsberg Maple Syrup Festival

7.    Other Business

Ken Phillips, CAO/Secretary-Treasurer advised the Committee that Royal Bank (RBC) will be
partnering with Conservation Ontario for a RBC Free Community Day either on June 8 or 15.
RBC will reimburse 75% of the cost of admission and will cover all promotional expenses.
