Logging into the Database
- Go to www.umkc.edu/cad/vsi/hsvsi/ - Navigate to the “Facilitator” link - Click on the “Online Database” link. - You will need to use your UMKC login username and password. - If you have not received your UMKC username and password, please read the instructions on “Setting up a UMKC Username and Password”
Setting up a UMKC Username and Password
- Go to www.umkc.edu/cad/vsi/hsvsi/ - Navigate to the “Facilitator” link - Under the heading “Facilitator Forms to fill out at the beginning of Semester,” you will find a link to the “Electronic Access Form.” You will need to complete this form and fax to the VSI program at 816-35-5156. We will submit the form to add you to the UMKC system. It will take one to two weeks for you to be added. - In order to get your username and password, you must contact the Information Systems Department at 816-35-000. Please inform them that you have submitted a request for a username and password and need this information. They will confirm your name and SSN, and provide you with the username and password.

Enrolling a Student
- Have students complete Enrollment form with signatures. - Go to www.umkc.edu/cad/vsi/hsvsi/ - Navigate to the Facilitator link. - Click on “Online Database” link. - You will need to use your UMKC login username and password. - If you have not received your UMKC username and password, please read the instructions on “Setting up a UMKC Username and Password” - Once you are logged in, you may need to update your contact information. - Now, to enroll a student into a course, move mouse over the “Enroll” button. There will be a drop-down list of courses that you are facilitating. Click on the course the student needs to be enrolled in. This will bring up the enrollment screen for that course. Note: The “Enroll” Button will only be available when the Registration Window is open. Please check on-line calendar for enrollment dates to ensure that you can enroll your students. Also, you will be the only one who can enroll your students for the course(s) you are facilitating. Each facilitator must enroll all of their students.

- Notice the course that you are enrolling the student for is indicated at the top. IMPORTANT! All students who are taking the course need to be added to the database. This includes the students who are taking the course for high school credit only. There is a box in the enrollment screen to specify high school enrollment only. Please include all students who are in the course. - You will also notice at the top of the screen is a scroll box that lists the students who have been enrolled in the class. This information is provided to give you a list of students who have already been submitted into the database.
- Complete the Enrollment form. Input the SSN, birthdate, and click “Find” to see if student is already in the database. Please make sure SSN and birthdate is entered correctly. If the student is already in the database, most of the information will populate the fields. Complete as many fields as possible.
- You will notice at the bottom of the screen are a list of additional courses that you are facilitating. If the student needs to be enrolled in any of these additional courses, check the appropriate course(s).
- Click the “Submit” button once all information is correct. - Once all students are enrolled, fax copies of the signed Enrollment forms to the VSI office at 816-235-5156. Important: Keep original hard copies with signatures for proof of enrollment. If electronic system fails, we need hard copies as back ups. VSI Online Database Manual - 5
Withdrawal a Student from a Course
- Complete the Withdrawal form with signatures. - Go to www.umkc.edu/cad/vsi/hsvsi/ - Navigate to the Facilitator link. - Click on the Withdraw Information link and then the Online Withdraw Form link. You will need to login using your username and password. - To withdraw a student from a course, move mouse over the “Withdraw” button and click on the appropriate course. Note: Withdraw Button will only be available when the Withdraw Window is open. Please check on-line calendar for withdrawal dates to ensure that you can withdraw your students. In order to withdraw a student from a course after the cutoff date, the student must complete and submit the Petition for Late Withdrawal form. - A list of students in the course will be displayed. You will only need to withdraw students who are taking the course for college credit. All other students will have “High School Credit Only” indicated in this list. - Check “Withdraw” box and “High School Credit Only” box if the student is dropping the college credit but will remain in the course. - Check “Withdraw” box only if the student is completely leaving the course. - Click the “Submit” button once all boxes have been checked completely. - Once withdrawals are submitted electronically, fax signed withdraw forms to the VSI office at 816-235-5156. UMKC Registrar’s office needs signed copies for records. - Keep original copies on file in case of electronic problems. VSI Online Database Manual - 6
View and Print a Class Roster
- Go to www.umkc.edu/cad/vsi/hsvsi/ - Navigate to the “Facilitator” link. - Click on the “Online Database” link. - Click on the “Courses” button and select the appropriate course. - A list will be populated with the students in the database associated to the course you selected. - Click on the “Print this Page” button to print a copy for your records. - To view and update student information, select the “View” button for the appropriate student.
- This screen will also allow you to remove a student from the course while the Registration Window is open. Once the Registration Window is closed, the student will have to be withdrawn from the course.

Update Student Information
- Go to www.umkc.edu/cad/vsi/hsvsi/ - Navigate to the “Facilitator” link. - Click on the “Online Database” link. - Login - Search for Student. - A list will be populated with the students in the database associated with the search criteria. - Click on the appropriate student. - All student information is visible, but greyed out and uneditable. - Click on “Change Student Info” button. - Update information and Click the “Submit” button. Note: You can update all information except for the student’s SSN. If the student’s SSN is incorrect, please call the VSI Office at 816-235-1178 and report the error.
Update Facilitator Information
- Go to www.umkc.edu/cad/vsi/hsvsi/ - Navigate to the “Facilitator” link. - Click on the “Online Database” link. - Login - Move over “Misc” button and select “Update Facilitator Info” link. - Update information and Click the “Submit”
