							The flowchart on succeeding pages is an attempt to diagram the procedures and processes
involved in a sponsored-research project at UNM, from the birth of the idea to closeout of
the project.

The successive stages in a project are given in orange on the left. The parties involved in
each stage are contained in boxes of different colors:

   ●   PI(s) in violet.
   ●   Units (College/School, Department, Center) not in the central research
       administration in indigo.
   ●   Office of Vice President for Research and Economic Development (OVPRED) in
       pink.
   ●   Office of Vice President for Finance/Controller in turquoise.
   ●   Other UNM offices in black.
   ●   Funding agency/sponsor in light blue.
   ●   Other external agencies in gray.

Processes and procedures are given in green. Those processes and procedures contained
within a particular box are carried out by that party, and those involving interfaces among
two or more parties are indicated by arrows connecting the participating parties.

Issues and questions identified by the RSG are marked in red at the appropriate point in
the flowchart.
