Discussing the group's recent developments, Boehm said that through 20042007 the group's consolidated sales increased by a total of 120% to $10.3 billion. During this period, Liebherr created more than 8,600 jobs worldwide, an increase of 41%. This success, he said, is based on the fact that Liebherr is familyowned, independent and economically strong. Turnover within the period January to June 2008 increased by 27.5% to $5,913.5 million as compared with the previous year's figures. At the end of June 2008, Liebherr employed almost 31,300 people worldwide, an increase of more than 1,600 compared with the end of 2007.
