Developed by an industry team headed by Engineering and Computer Simulations (ECS) under contract to the National Guard Bureau J 7, US-Nexus uses the Internet to deliver unprecedented training, educational and collaborative capabilities to state and local governments. Full realization of avatar-toavatar VOIP-enabled communication has the potential to reduce or eliminate costly video-teleconferencing facilities. * Designed initially to suppon largescale military and civil staff training, the US-Nexus includes civilian Emergency Operations Centers and military JOCs at five jurisdictional levels, allowing for unprecedented staff-to-staff collaboration and low exercise costs. * Suppon for avatar-to-avatar synchronous education, due for delivery in May 2009, will enable fully virtual class-based training for military and civilian personnel, which will greatly reduce training and TDY costs.
