Science Says One of the most notable longterm scientific research projects in the medical world is the Framingham Heart Study, which has focused on a large group of men and women since 1965. The study followed this group of women for 20 years and discovered that among employed and homemaking women, a lack of vacations was predictive of an increased incidence of heart disease. In a different nine-year study performed at the University of Pittsburgh, 12,000 men at high risk for heart disease were asked about the vacations they had taken in the previous twelve months.
