Older people who exercise and cut calories can protect their muscle and maximize their fat loss. Researchers assigned 64 overweight or obese sedentary people into groups, who average 67 years of age. After 16 weeks, the diet-only and diet-plus-exercise groups lost more weight and more fat than the exercise-only group.
