Two years later FFRF incorporated as a national nonprofit educational organization, the stated purpose of which is to protect the constitutional principle of church-state separation and to educate about nontheism. After graduating as an award-winning student reporter and scholarship recipient from the UW-Madison Journalism School in 1980, Gaylor started the Feminist Connection, a monthly advocacy newspaper that she published for five years.
